45 days ago this Philodendron 'Black Knight' was sent to me after I bought it on Ebay, the courier company lost it so the seller sent me a replacement and they closed the investigation. This afternoon I came home from a day out and my housemate called out to me to let me know I had a package arrive. I hadn't ordered anything that hadn't already been delivered so I was super curious as to what it could be. I picked up the shipping bag, ripped it open and was hit with a massive cloud of mould spores. Inside was a cardboard box that was sopping wet and had turned black from mould. At that point I started to clue on to what was in the box so I opened it up and that poor little plant that started its journey 45 days ago was in the box. All its leaves except for the lead leaf had rotted off (You can see them on the ground in the first two pics), the lead leaf and stem were covered in mould. I grabbed the hose and sprayed it down, got it nice and clean, put it into a good aroid mix and placed it in the shade. If this plant survives then that means it will have survived 45 days in pitch black in the middle of a scorching hot Australian summer, smothered in mould with all but one of its leaves rotted off 😳
