They did seem to make a wider than usual circle around it.

Pop the green cover off, add a length of corrugated pipe with appropriate connectors u til it’s the level you want, put the cover back on. Then fill in the dirt around it

River rock

Add PVC around the inside of the hole, spray the dirt on the bottom white and add a flag.
You got yourself a putting green.

Stone will allow the water to run through

My answer for everything is “just add some trap rock”.

Fill the hole with Stone

In contrast to the other suggestions, you could just pop off the grate and then cover the end of the pipe by wrapping some landscaping fabric over it. Then just bury it.
It’ll work *better* than if the grate were above ground… Because then it will be able to help drain the water from the top layer of soil… Rather than essentially only the water that falls directly on top of it.

I took the cover off and put a piece of weed barrier in mine. Then put a little river rock over it. The cap holds the fabric in place if you cut it bigger then the pipe.

I would extend it a few inches the add top soil. Easy peasey

Another box that’s the right size, or sod, or corrugated pipe, or pvc irrigation pipe.

River rock.

You could put some non-woven geotextile fabric over it and bury it. Basically turn it into a French drain
If it’s a drain, just slope the dirt and grass towards it. Flat level doesn’t drain well.

Honestly, I’ve just started to let the grass grow over mine. In the event of a flood, the water should still drain through grass eventually.

Maybe some river rock?
TravelinMan66
What if the grate is covering a shut off valve and is NOT a drain (as it is in my yard). Would covering it and allowing grass to grow over be good if I may need to access the valve?

White marble chip drainage rock at Lowes or Home Depot. Similar to the other suggestion to pop off the top cover and put landscape fabric (being below grade helps it drain effectively).
I would even just leave the cap below grade, simply add white marble chip drainage rock.and bury.
White rock looks nice, keep the weeds down, and allows your drain to work better.
Other suggestions to raise the pipe above grade will reduce effective drainage.
I think that’s the end to pipe water out from drains around your house to get water away from your foundation. Next time you have a big rain go look water should be pouring out of there and seeping into the yard

Drain rock. It is rock for drains.

I was in the same situation and didn’t want to do dig up the pipe, cut, and modify things, so I just used this:
