So confused why u just threw flowers in the compost!?!? Why not make a bouquet, if u don't want it, give it away! The world is such a happier place when we share the abundance of what we grow.
Always tie your flowers to a pole of some sort. If it splits, donโt cutt it off just seal the wound. Plants are able to take energy from dieing parts in order to recreate what was lost or replenish inefficient structures.
You can propogate the entire branch next time! I would recommend, for a branch this large, to directly prop in a pot of soil. Snip all the flowers so the branch can focus on growing out roots and prune lower leaves/branches so they dont droop onto the soil as it acclimates. Place near a window by a door since it was oudoors for so long and youll be able to keep it alive until weather warms again and you can pu it straight back into that raised bed, skipping the wait for seeds to sprout! โค
