I’ve had this Basil plant for about 6 months now. At first it was very full but not as tall. Now the base of the stems are brown and woody with leaves only at the top. Any way to fix this? Thanks!

You can try the scratch test on the “woody” areas and see if there is any green. However from the looks of it the plant is dying, I would say best bet may be to cut off what is still alive and try to propagate and get new roots and then replant.

I’m not a huge basil expert in soil as I grow mine in hydroponics but maybe giving it a little plant nutrients will help in the future (not now though, may cause more harm) also you may want to provide closer pictures of those bottom leaves. They look to have some discoloration or patterning which could be disease. But again not 100% sure, hopefully someone can provide further expertise on basil.

Basil growing old and die off. It natural. Just propagate the tip and re plant it. Make sure you harvest often by topping it so it more bushy.
