I don’t know anything about spreaders but heard earth way was a good brand. Was looking on marketplace to hopefully not spend a couple hundred bucks on a spreader. Any advice or info would be great
Scott’s spreaders are known to be garbage because the wheels are hollow and collect granular fertilizer that creates lines.
Make sure those wheels aren’t like Scott’s, they look similar here.

That’s a single season max spreader. Cheap. 20 is ok. Might get 20 ferts out of it.

Fair for sure.

Yes. Very

A very basic, cheap broadcast spreader like that is usually $40-50 new, and you can often get them on sale for $30-40 in the spring. If that’s all you need then $20 seems like too much for used. I would offer them $10 at most.
If you have a large yard or your yard is very uneven/rough, then I’d recommend spending $100-150 for a new one with real tires. These things generally last forever and you’ll need one as long as you have a house.

There are several tiers of Earthway spreaders and this is the bottom end of their residential line. If you need a spreader and you’re willing to deal with those hollow tires, go for it.
If you can wait and/or apend a little more money, eventually a Lesco spreader will pop up on Marketplace, or just go get an Echo RB60.

Usually Earthway is good…in this case, this is no more than a cousin to the shitty Scotts spreaders.
Echo RB-60 is $150-ish, and worth it.

I have an old Scott’s Speedy Green and it works like an ace. My FIL got it for $3 at a yard sale.p My wife recently inherited an Earthway, and I hate it. Mostly because, unlike the Scott’s, when you get to an end of a pass you have to move the lever to stop the flow. The lever then bumps into the setting nut and a few times has messed up my spread rate. The Scott’s hatch is spring loaded – simply let go of the trigger. Real pneumatic tires sound great, but one of mine is always flat. YMMV, but for my 8500 sq ft of grass, I grab the Scott’s.

I have been using Scott spreaders for 30 years and they have worked great for us. You have to spray them off and let them dry when done.

I’ve received so many spreader for free from clients that used to do their own yard work . They were used once and never again cuz they’re always brind new. I saw these as the ultimate disposable yard tool it’s so cheap. I’m surprised somebody is actually looking to buy one. Then again everything is expensive now and idk how much they are nowadays. Why are they alot of $ now?

I got a Scott and it was fine. It works great and I paid $10 for it on marketplace.
It all depends on how much fertilizing you’re doing
