So recently my mother gave me a new plant. The 1st photo shows how she looked like when i first got her. But recently shes been losing alot of leaves and i dont know why. Its been 1 week. My mother bought it from an indoor plant shop, so it was regularly exposed to airconditioning and very little sun. The plant seller also said to water the plant once a week. I place her on my desk, where she recieves partial sunlight. I also turn on the aircon every night. But for some reason she look like shes dying. Is there anything i can do to save her? Thank you.

And also this is another view of how she looks now
This plant needs lots of sun, especially if you’re watering once a week.
That´s an Elephant bush, idk the specific cultivar, it´s a succulent. So a lot of sun (or use growlamps) and water when the soil it´s dry.
Once a week it´s too much for an indoor succulent, specially if the pot isn´t too porous like terracota. This pot look ceramic outside (idk if it´s the same inside) and those kind of pots reteain the soil wet more time.
I haven´t aircon in my house, but I´m think in general plants don´t like it.
It needs to be right up in a southern window, maximal sun. Beautiful specimen!
Bear in mind that it’s perfect and symmetrical like that due to frequent pruning. That’s like a full on bonsai project you’ve got there. Gorgeous.
The plant is gorgeous. Unfortunately she’s rotting. Likely due to overwatering in conjunction with a glazed pot.
They do need lots of light, but i’m guessing yours is getting enough/adequate since it’s so light in color. I’m not sure though.
they store a lot of water inside of the plant so they typically don’t need watering once a week, especially in home conditions.
This plant will rot from the inside out if you don’t fix the conditions.
It’s a really pretty plant and pot! My old roommate gifted me a jade plant that i ceremoniously watered to death. This reminds me of it.
That plant doesn’t need to be watered anywhere near once a week. Is it just leaves that are shriveling up or is it bits if stems, too? Those plants can lose whole limbs because they freeze or are overwatered. It doesn’t seem like your plant is that bad and unlike for that to happen somewhere that’s currently in summer.
It’s pretty hard to do anything so wrong that a plant will show signs of dying just a week after getting it. Either the plant was already struggling or nothing much is wrong.
It will do better with more light than partial sun but that’s not likely to be a problem either way. Plants do lose old leaves when they need fertiliser but it looks like the newest leaves are shriveling.
TL;DR Who knows? Could be anything. Could be nothing. Always good to check for pests. Definitely water it less. Water when the leaves are squishy. Don’t let it sit in water. Could want some fertiliser. :/
I legit thought that’s a Lego
