My first monstera! This was received as a gift in October of 2023. I learned from this subreddit that I actually have what appears to be 5-6 individual plants within one pot.
I’m worried that I’ll damage them if I attempt to separate them. I have already repotted once, the roots are very entangled. I was planning to repot into an 8” terracotta pot this spring with proper media and fertilizer, but am I risking the future of the plant by leaving all of them bundled together?

Yes separate it sooner than later. Also make sure you have enough pots and soil for them all

Imagine these getting 2 meters high and all the leaves, it will be massive with 5. Now you can still manage them to split. If there are 5 i would split in 2 and 3, because I like the more bushy look.
Use a chop stick and a lot of patience 🙂

I personally like the bushy look as compared to the spindly look, but it’s completely up to you

How do you know which plant is which? I’ve got a plant like this and it never grows properly

Depends how much room you have. This is a 3-4 year old with 6 plants in one. I personally like them full and bushy, but they take up alot of space.
