I test and care for my plants each weekend. I went out of town for the week and when I came home, my pony tail palm lost all its fronds and my flamingo lily turned yellow. I gave them both water before I left, obviously not enough. I'm hoping the lily can come back, but is the palm done?

Tbh the ponytail palm was probably overwatered. I used to overwinter mine in a garage and I wouldn’t water it at all from November to April. Sold it when I moved.

Actually when a Beaucarnea recurvata dies that fast, it was probably root rot.

Those died because they aren’t getting enough light

  4. I feel like the ponytail palm was already not doing well if it died that fast. They can be pretty resilient in my experience

  5. Those pots have no drainage and there’s no sunlight

If they die that fast “somebody” may have done something to kill them. Do you have a cat that likes to use your plants as a litter box? Because that will kill them very quickly.

How often do you water the palm? It needs very little water. If you’re doing something every weekend it sounds like it could be too frequent. I have a large one that’s more like a tree, I’ve watered it once since October for context.

Most plant issues I see on Reddit have incorrect soil which leads to root rot. I’d check the roots. Soil looks dense. Is there a drainage hole in the pot?

I just got my first Ponytail Palm. I haven’t watered it since I got it as it was from Home Depot and they are notorious for over watering so that makes me pause with this plant.

It doesn’t appear dead but maybe pull it out of the pot and see how the roots look? If it is dying from root rot you will know soon enough.
