Ask Me Anything
LIVE Q&A Episode 3
Let’s kick-off the 2025 gardening season together! This is a live session where you can ask me anything about gardening! Now that winter is coming to an end, it’s time to start seeds for our spring vegetable gardens and get our gardening plans together for the new gardening season. Feel free to ask any gardening related question and I will do my best to address as many of them as possible during the allotted time-frame.
If you have questions about growing fruit trees or want to know about the things I grow in my raised bed vegetable garden and edible landscaping food forest, are looking for more gardening tips and tricks and garden hacks, have questions about vegetable gardening and organic gardening in general, or want to share some DIY and “how to” garden tips and gardening hacks of your own, please ask in the Comments below!

How can I check my pH level
For watermelons that are rotting at at the ground level, use aluminum foil to keep the melons up and dry and directs heat and sunlight up .
From Maine here I notice in one of your videos you have Morbloom 0-10-10 when do you use this and what do you use it on? Also how often do you fertilize your tomato's and when do you stop? Also what do you use to protect your tomato seedlings from cut worms? Say hi to Dale for me love seeing him.
Have you had any success growing passionfruit or may pop?
Is it beneficial to add bone meal to the entire garden before planting?
What is the optimal distance to plant apple trees from each other?
Wow, good info. I can't believe I actually set for 2hrs 12mins. Thank you so much. ❤❤❤
I got my artichokes on their second set of leaves under grow lights right now.! SOOOO excited this year! It will be my second year and at least my raised beds are filled already. Last year was so much work filling all 8 of them last year. LOL
Love your channel. As a guy who is on a mission to grow all sorts of things 'out of zone' – you're a big source of knowledge and inspiration. Keep up the great work!
I started my tomatoes way too early (7b) but they are in the basement under strong grow lights with only their "seed leaves" right now. I will be up-potting them probably late next week we will see. Its going to be some work, but Ill give it a try. 🙂
Always great information. Thanks for doing this! I hate that I had to miss the live!
I'm in Jacksonville NC and last year my pepers went crazy between September and November. Do they do better in cooler weather
Great video (I am watching the replay 1 day later). Thanks for all the information. I am going to try growing blueberries this year. I am particularly interested in a rabbit eye variety & am super excited about the pink lemonade! Will look for your blueberry videos. Thanks for doing these Q & A sessions.
Do you have much success with pomegranate? I have Red Angel pomegranate in zone 8B getting black spots on the new crop. Please advise!
I’d love to try Asian pear in zone 6. Any suggestions? I also want to try jujube, because, why not? Pluots are on my wishlist too, along with a medlar because, again, I like obscure things 🙃
PS Love the relaxed vibes on this video.
What a way to spend your Saturday evening! Looking for help eradicating an ant colony in my raised bed, a bottomless galvanized stock tank–something to use around veggies. Maybe next time . . . I was aware, but need to make a written schedule. I did listen to most of the recording. Good!
I wish I had asked this. Do you think you can realistically grow a mango tree in a greenhouse in NC? If you keep it above freezing
What about eggplant? Can I grow them under cover? I know they have perfect flowers but I thought they needed pollinators. I’d love to cover them to keep all the lousy pests away…
Could I use the bag method to sprout chilies as well!
I am starting fig cuttings for the firstvtime from figbid and it was going well until I accidentally sprayed water on the leaves of my LSU Tiger and burned the leaves. Hoping it comes back. I had no idea they were so sensitive and that the grow lights could burn something. Any thoughts?
Why can't you ever tell me that I'm gonna get Snow in NC! You show these maps but all we get is rain! Just Show a map that doesn't show NC getting Snow!
Great info thankyou. Do you play the keyboard?
Congrats on 800k!
Just a little note~don't forget, Texas is huge! It's not all desert-y. It can be snowing in one city in TX, meanwhile, it's 75°F / 100% humidity in my (subtropical) city. I love driving through the state and seeing how drastically the scenery and weather is changing. Just figured I'd throw that out there because a lot of people think it's all just one big miserable desert! (The summers are brutal though, yes) 🤠
Oh, I love Phil's figs! Please come back on another garden party episode sometime. The lives are always fun.
