Oh Steph, I can't wait to do me winter sowing method. 1st time trying. I love in ne ok. and I'm also 6B 7A. Hopefully I'm not to late. All I need is some seed starter mix and a few more seeds. Perennials, I have alot of annuals already. Got them from Dollar Tree. I have very good luck with DT seeds. I love your channel, have been watching it for over 3 years. Congratulations on 100k. I live in zone 8b in washington State, and that mallow became invasive in my garden. I think I brought it in with some soil i purchased. It may be a different variety that i have in my yard, but it is very wet here and it loves my soil.

Two other perennial species that are easy to grow from seed with winter sowing (and re-seed themselves) are our native lobelia cardinalis and lobelia siphilitica. The cultivar lobelia x speciosa "Starship Blue" has also done well for me via seed. Sorry to hear that echinacea "White Swan" reverted — I haven't seen that yet in mine though I suspect if they reseeded I might get some purple ones. Both the Pow Wows (White and Berry) have grown well for me from winter sowing. I am in 7a Lower Hudson Valley, so climate conditions similar to yours. The best antidote to the snow storm last night is to go down into the basement and sow some more seeds in jugs!

@HookedandRooted what perennials do you recommend for gardens that don’t get too much sun. I have a very large backyard but also have large trees that give mostly shade. I’d like to add some color.

I started my winter sowing jugs 2 days ago. Last year was my first time trying this method and they did great.

You and her both said your Hibiscus foliage had been eaten or had holes. I live in WV, and mine did too. What can we do before the problem gets so bad?
