Those spots on the new growth look like evidence of spider mites to me based on something similar that happened to me this summer. I’d isolate the plant to be safe and keep your eye out for them, it will look like there are webs around your plant, and the new growth will continue to have spots like that and discoloration if it is indeed spider mites.
Try this..you just always pinch top buds off..more buds(become leaves and branches) will grow along the trunk..trunk will grow thicker later..also keep your ideal height
