My mom (an agritech engineer) and I (serial plant killer) built a sensor and app that tells you when to water your plants, and some other useful things like temp, air humidity and pH.
We designed the sensor to fit nicely into homes and the app to only notify you when your plants actually need something. No spam, just healthier plants.
We’re pretty proud of it and we’d love to hear what y’all think đ Weâre hoping to launch summer 2025, if it’s something you’re interested in you can sign up to our waitlist here [https://www.get-oko.com/pages/sign-up](https://www.get-oko.com/pages/sign-up)

There are many other sensors on the market. What makes yours special?
I think the sensor looks very good and has potential in terms of appearance.
My experience with sensors: They don’t work as expected.

This is legit cool esp for new growers.

FYI- when I hit learn how oko works on the page you linked, I get taken back to the wait list sign up page. The button links to the same page.

Every human has built in soil moisture sensors, 10 of themâŠ

Does it work with succulents? Or just leafy greens?

Do I need the battery pack to run the sensor?

I think this is one of those unsolicited new devices for today’s standards which seems to serve a very concise purpose but fail to deliver actual benefit after some initial uses. Plant killers and green thumb people will keep being the same even after relying on this gadget. Great design though.

Looks awesome, very on trend with its modern organic design. Hope itâs a successful business. That said, with 80+ plants, Iâm clearly not the target costumer. Iâll keep my wood sticks

I assume it is programmable to notify you at certain moisture levels? Different plants have different needs, etc

You’d have many fans in the home automation community if you made it ESPHome compatible to work with Home Assistant!

Please tell me you can upload your own sound alerts. I need my plants to moan like the desiccated merfolk from The Little Mermaid when they need watering.

This is really cool. I love the clean design, and the app connectivity, and that your mom brings her expertise into the product. While there are other sensors, none as aesthetic that I have come across. All the more reason to like it.
This sub may not be the right place to talk about it because most users know how to take care of plants (i assume) but threads like r/somethingimade etc would be great to showcase this.

Good job!
Now give some GPIO access so that you can have the plant water itself with some off the shelf automation.

How well does it clip to different pot styles? The pot being modeled is mid sized, with straight sides and no ridges. I see several pots in the background that are curved or bumpy or of various sizes, and I wonder if it would clip as well to those?
