Hi all! I was trying to fill in some patches in our lawn. Unfortunately I didn’t to much research prior to doing so. So I bought Fescue grass seed to fill the patches. Then was told I have Bermuda grass. Will the Bermuda grass eventually overtake the Fescue? So the grass will look even in color?
Same with the front lawn. There are two big green patches from the Fescue, then the rest of the lawn is Brownish at this time.
I live in southern California!

Yes it will over over take the Fescue. Bermuda regenerates and spreads itself without needing to plant seed. All you need to do is mow both grasses at a low height of 1 inch. Come warmer weather, this will make the Bermuda grow even more and make the fescue wither out.
She’ll be right. The warm weather will buck up the couch and the fescue should bugger off. You can speed things up by using a bit of Glyphosate on the fescue that’s actively growing, it won’t affect the couch that’s dormant
It’s best (cheaper) to have bermuda.
Yes, bermuda will eventually take over the fescue*. But it will be a very long time from now.
Now— Apply a pre-emergant. Best around Labor day and February. (Regular maintenance)
Later— Wait until around June. Apply Celsius to weeds and fescue. Keep low and water only an inch a week (tuna can). Bermuda will spread nicely.
