Come walk through my garden with me as we talk about the garden tasks to do during July in the low desert of Arizona. Gardening in July can be challenging, so I’ll show you what you can do to help your garden survive this hot month. I’ve learned more about gardening in challenging conditions in the four years since filming the last Arizona Garden in July video.

I hope it’s helpful. If you have ideas for what else to include in these monthly task videos, please let me know in the comments.

Garlic – Soft Neck Garlic grows best in hot climates, and I always order from Forever Yong Farms https://foreveryongfarms.com/
I have the best luck with Easy to Grow Anemone & Ranunculus – they are good-sized and true to color: https://amzn.to/45QmYjw

  1. Thank you, like always you help me with my garden in this hot weather, I’m learning so much and adding lot of flowers

  2. I feel like adding mulch suffocated my plants. Everytime I add it during summer my plants die. Ones without do better. Is there a specific way your supposed to add it for grow bags and potted plants.

  3. I have been watching you for several years. I love your videos. Living in the Prescott area is a little different, but your videos are encouraging none the less. Thank you for making them. 🙂

  4. Thank you Angela , so much good info. We are having a lovely heat wave her in Nor Cal.
I know it’s not that hot to you but we were at 111 at 4 this afternoon. So your info was quite timely!

  5. All these growing guides, and your calendar I have has been a game changer for me. Life is super busy for me so I didn’t get to plant spring. So I recently covered my beds with a 6” layer of compost and water deeply once a week. I’m also planning for fall.

Thank you for great videos from north of you by about an hour.

  6. Yuma is HOT this year, concentrating on my flood irrigation and letting the garden go. My timers are still on, but I'll see what survives when it's cooler.

  7. Omg!! I just fertilized my plants! Watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumber, tomatoes, peppers, radishes, basil, carrots and strawberries!!! All my plants have shade except watermelon and cantaloupe!

  8. Hi Angela, do you have a video on your desert adapted plants? Love your content! This is my second year gardening in Phx and you have helped and inspired me so much! ❤

  9. 😂 we just got back from camp and I planted everything….. the peppers are not looking good! Hopefully the temps will drop this weekend! 🫑

  10. Hello from south florida!
Best advice for summer gardening is… go dormant and come out again in the fall😂😂😂
Thank you Angela, love all your videos💕🌺

  11. How has your 50% shade material held up so far? Does it move alot in the wind. I put a 12 x 20 order of that up and it moves a bit and inflates almost like a bubble when wind hits it

  12. I didn’t realize we were heading into a heat wave and planted my pumpkin plants right before a week of 110+. We hit 116 today. They made it and finally look ok. Fingers crossed for some pumpkins

  13. I’m having trouble with my trees for the first time in 15 years since they were planted. I believe they have insects which I am treating. I have one plum tree which I am struggling with the most and my grapefruit tree. Today as last effort we fertilized them by drilling holes in the ground and poring in granulated fertilizer. I know it’s probably the wrong time of year but they are only getting worse if I do nothing. My major question is how often should I be watering each? And the plum tree is in my grass area so I need to water my grass also. Any tips I would appreciate. I am in Cave Creek so I have about the same weather as you. Scorching!

  14. I really appreciate your channel. My brother lives in Anthem, but he doesn't garden. I do here in NE Texas. While our temps aren't quite as extreme as yours, I still find a lot of your videos relevant and inspiring.
