👩🏻‍🦰 A B O U T M E:
Ashley has had a passion for plants since she was a small child. In the long summers as a child, she would garden alongside her grandmother and it was then that she realized her love for greenery. With years of great studying, Ashley had begun her post-secondary education at the University of Saskatchewan.
At first, her second love, animals, was the career path she chose but while doing her undergrad she realized that her education would take her elsewhere. And with that, four years later she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a bachelor’s degree in science and a major in Soil Science.
Some of Ashley’s interests are YouTube, in which she posts informative videos about plants and gardening. The focus of Ashley’s YouTube channel is to bring science to gardening in a way that is informative but also helpful to others learning to garden. She also talks about the importance of having your own garden and the joys of gardening indoors. Ashley continues to study plants in her free time and hopes to expand her YouTube channel as well as her reach to up-and-coming gardeners.

  1. Don’t be sowry that Canada was going to put some tariffs back on the US because our unaccountable unstable president was the one that did it to you, and if there was no retaliatory tariffs then US would just be walking all over Canada for no valid or likely legal reason.

  2. Let's be frank: It's only a sword fight because our president started it. Most Americans didn't want it. There's few real winners in a trade war. Citizens feel the most of it, and countries carry the tension of the trade war in future interactions, even when it's over.

Great video in terms of useful content per usual. 👌🏾

  3. At the end of this video you just spoke in favor of an American military takeover of Canada. You apparently don't perceive the differences between our two countries so let me point some of the main ones out. We have laws governing news communication so we have almost no misinformation in our news. This is critical because democracy only works if the public is correctly informed. In the U.S. they got rid of their Fairness Doctrine under Ronald Ragan and that gave rise to FOX News and their information bubble. We have courts that work because they haven't become politicized. We have the most secure banking system- remember 2008? We have better gun laws. We have public medicine. We have reasonably priced higher education. We have a fair system of government with far less gerrymandering. Their democracy is crumbling before our eyes. We have no electoral college in our elections. We have laws controlling campaign financing – they have superpacs snd therefore oligarchs. II don't mind being friendly to American people – but I wish you had stuck to gardening comments. I am frankly dismayed you don't value our country. I am unsubscribing.

  4. US citizen here. Oh my goodness what has happened to the world. I love Canada and my Canadian friends. Sorry for all the craziness from my country. Last weekend I stocked up on peat moss. I saw the big Maple leaf on the package and thought oh no. Also stocked up on smoothies from Dean. Hopefully this will get settled soon. I am definitely expanding my garden this year.

  5. American here. Im sorry our leaders are $hit. Most of us didn't vote for this madness. Massive voter suppression is why the felon was elected. Now that the numbers are in the places he NEEDED to win had hundreds of thousands purged from voter registration illegally. All of them in non-white liberal districts. Republicans will deny it even without looking up the evidence and numbers because truth and math don't exist with those people. They're also fine with taking away other people's voting rights if they don't agree with them.

I'm starting a massive garden this year to be able to feed my family. I've been using several year old seeds for a year now and they're still viable. Stock up.

  6. Unfortunately our ever increasing Carbon tax will affect prices of greenhouse grown items as well as everything else

  7. Farmers should start a trade group. I can hook up the vermiculite if yall wanna penpal me if I need something as an American.

  8. It’s overblown. However United States cannot support some of the nonsense we have been paying for . Canada would be in worse shape if we fail to balance a checkbook. Bankruptcy is not off the table for the united states.
It’s called the Art of the deal . It’s healthy to negotiate between nations.

  9. Not military force . Part of the negotiation is because America is militarily protection to an extent for Canada . Canada has no sword to fight with. lol just kidding. But I have great respect for Canada after . Trucker and farmers Canada takeover, that was awesome and was wanting something like that here . That’s why the vote went that way . Change was needed

  10. I finally bought a bunch of vego metal beds, epic seed cells, a green stalk vertical planter before this tariff business was on the table. Thank god 😂 now I don’t feel so bad dropping so much cash hahaha

  11. I don't know where the myth that Canada doesn't have military comes from but the CAF exists and is the reason why Trump wants to do this economically. The defence plan has long been for the army to dissolve into terror cells and slip across the border, the Pentagon knows this and knows they're really not that great at dealing with insurgents – just look at Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam

  12. I can’t figure the tariff math formula. At all. For either side of the 49th. I ‘think’ there’s a middle-man, for lack of a better word.

  13. I made a run for peat a couple weeks ago for this reason. I picked up 5 bales of Berger BM6 from a geenhouse supply store (due to poor soil and limited space, I primaril do fabric container gardening except for sweet corn). I have found it to be cheaper than the miracle grow and promix by a long shot, but a very high quality growing medium. Like you said, they are targeted for commercial growers, which is why you won't find this at a retailer. I am grateful the local horticulture supplier sells to non commercial individuals. The retail price to aquire the same type of media as the Berger products is twice the price.

  14. I have only placed one small order last year. But I am very happy with Vesey's seed from PEI. They send out catalogs for anyone who likes to flip thur a paper copy and pretend it 1999 lol

  15. I have very little trouble growing Romaine lettuce from seed here in New Brunswick. I don’t bother starting my seeds inside as I don’t have the space in my apartment.

  16. I just got a box of MIGardner Seeds over the border. There wasn't any problem. I must say, I probably would have enjoyed that conversation between you, Dean & Jessica and Nate…, or maybe not come to think of it. So far this year I've bought from IMGardner, Veseys and Mackensie Seeds. I'll buy more from OSC and cheap seeds from whoever is selling in the grocery stores. My big seed start has begun with onions and my biggest seed bed will be asparagus since I seem to need two acres of that, lol. Maybe I'll start selling spears this year. Normally I give every visitor eggs and asparagus, hahaha. Got buy my friends I guess. hahahaha

  17. Awesome, I only buy ProMix anyway, because Miraclegrow just gives your loads more fungis knats. So happy to know Promix is all Canadian.

  18. I’ve been ordering seeds from MI Gardener (US) and have been very satisfied. However, I’ve also bought seeds from Chiltern in England and Jelitto in Germany and have been overwhelmed by the quality of their seeds and how quickly they get them to me. The price points, including postage is really good too. I have found many varieties of perennials not available from North American seed suppliers there. As well, they give more detailed information of the plants (origin, cultivation, etc.) than seed house like McKenzie who only give you the common name and basic sowing instructions – witch I hate, because I want to know exactly what I am growing.
