Thanks for visiting the “Tonya, with the flowers.” organic gardening channel. In the garden, I will answer some of the most common “gardening for beginners” type questions I get, including growing flowers from seed. Growing greens, growing flowers, and planting beautiful organic food is something I’m really passionate about. Thank you for joining me as I learn to grow flowers, cut flowers, vegetables, and much more. ‘Tonya, with the flowers.’ YouTube channel and related media are for entertainment purposes only.
Many ornamental flowers and cut flowers are TOXIC. ALWAYS do your own research and take responsibility for the plants that you introduce around your kids, pets, and everyone else. Use common sense when handling plant materials: wear gloves, always wash hands, avoid contact with face, etc. NEVER consume any plant which has not been positively identified with complete certainty to be safe and edible. Before planting anything, research to determine whether specific flowers are considered invasive where you live or if there are laws that apply to their planting in your area.

Enjoyed the video. I am just south of G' Ville Fl, and I sowed sweet peas last year in early spring. They did not bloom well or smell. It got warm too fast.
Next year, I will try my larkspur in the winter.
Snapdragons did so-so. Got too hot, too fast. It was the hottest most humid summer I have ever experienced here. Have lived on this property going on 47 years.
Thank you, so interesting and helpful as usual!!! You are such a great teacher!!! 😊
Hi Tonya, thank you for this video, I’m always lost when it comes to when to sow what… Though it’s a bit out of topic, I’d like to ask you something about snapdragons: is there any chance these could accept winter sowing in a prepared bed under a low tunnel now? I have no lights nor heat for seeds and I failed my fall sowing (maybe because I did a direct sowing in mid September instead of a tray sowing?) Have a great day 🌺🍀
You should make a monthly sowing video so we can follow along with you.
That larkspur bouquet is just gorgeous!! Larkspur is one of my favorite early “crops” to sow! It’s so beautiful!
Thanks for all that good info! Maybe I'll direct sow for nigella this spring!
Nice video. Thank you!
Good information! Thank you!
I have been loving your new videos! I have missed them. You have a great perspective. Beautiful photography as well. Thank you.
Sweet video. So relaxing to watch these plants. I direct sow a lot of them. I’m in zone 7 and have a frozen ground right now. Already have larkspur coming up. Sometimes we have snow on the ground and I brush it back and there is the larkspur coming up. Crazy! Thank you for sharing ❤
Great video, very informative!
Hi! Thank you for this very useful information! Any chance I can direct sow those varieties in my Zone 5b/6a? We are now having pretty mild winters and I assume that the March will be warm this year.
Love Shirley Poppies.
Great video, very informative.
Deer demolish my agrostemma every year!
Always envious of your direct sowing success. Most Flowers I love to grow in my 5b gardens fail to germinate when direct sowed. I would love to have easier zinnia, etc. border gardens, but alas my prop house hoop structure is instead filled as early as possible.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful blooms with us to enjoy during these grey days in N. IL.
What a beautiful video you’ve made, and so full of great information.
Thank you for this! 💐
I’ve written them all down and will direct sow these kinds of seeds sometime after our snow melts.
Hey Tony. Do you cover or not cover the Larkspur seeds? I found mixed information. Thx
So nice to see beautiful flowers while listening to you. Calendula is one of my favorite herbs for skin issues and I like the petals mixed into tea.😊
