I’m pretty knowledgeable with plants but I have no idea what this is! Small plant, small-ish pot, planning to repot in spring, water once every two weeks, lighting is bright and mostly indirect but gets a little direct sun for about an hour.

  1. Could the leaf have been damaged while developing? E.g. been touched by you or someone else or a pet?

Has the leaf been resting on a heater of some sorts?

Phew! Thankfully it wasn’t 666 imprinted on the plant or id be worried!

Pinched while emerging from the top of the petiole sheath. Could be caused by low humidity, causing the sheath to not loosen.

I’ve seen this happen before when the plant gets damaged in some way before it finished unfurling. The question is what made the mark? A mystery to be solved. Do you have a cat? Also possibly accidental scissor damage if pruning nearby plants recently?

it’s like when you make those paper snowflakes or the people holding hands.
