This is zone 8a in the Carolinas. We recently got a new place and the only lawn maintenance ever done was to mow the weeds. I’ve used google lens and gotten bermuda, st. augustine, centipede and “I don’t know what the hell that is”. I feel like there is some fescue mixed in as well and it’s probably 50% weeds. I would like to make this yard more presentable, but I really don’t want to nuke it and start over. A lot of it is on a pretty steep slope and I already have some erosion. I can live with multiple varieties as long as they will co-exist. Between bermuda and st. augustine, if they got in a bar fight who would win?? Can I just start over seeding one of them and let them slowly take over? It’s also really bumpy, so I see myself doing some aeration and yard leveling. Thanks for any advice.

Bermuda will out compete st augustine. Centipede can be knocked out by spraying herbicides labeled for bermuda but not centipede as well as higher nitrogen applications. Centipede prefers 1-2#N/1000 sqft per year, that’s the low end for bermuda.
