i bought monstera “albo” seeds but unfortunately researched afterwards that its basically impossible to grow an albo from seed. i read it has to be a stem cutting.

i was kinda mad at myself for falling for it but planted them up anyway because i still love monsteras, albo or not.

anyway, i just checked the nursery bucket and ?????? there’s definitely some markings on one of them! 😱✨ idk if this means it’ll grow to be albo but omg i was SHOCKED lol

what do you guys think?

Not monsteras, looks like you have some baby pothos.

Pothos seeds are pretty rare, hence why cutting and propagating is the best method to expand the plant.

I grew my monsteras from seeds and they looked exactly like this, I believe you have a standard deliciosa, while it is possible to grow variegated from seeds it’s almost 1 in 10k

The leaves you have appear to be scarring of some sort, my monstera put out a new leaf like this a couple times.

Everyone who keeps saying pothos is nuts. These are monsters deliciosa SEEDLINGS. They are baby plants.

Now, as for the question asked. No it’s not an albo, it’s sport. If it continues on each new leaf it will likely be the aurea mutation. If it stops, then there’s not much you can do since it’s too small to chop and prop the variegated node into a new plant.

You could very well have a variegated baby! It all just depends on if the variegation continues on subsequent leaves or is just a little splash early on that will not continue (which is very common.)

Ignore the pothos people they just don’t know what monstera seedlings look like.

While albo seeds are somewhat of a scam it’s not impossible to grow an albo from seed. That said it’s one in thousands and I believe the chances are the same for any seeds so no one should be paying extra for “albo seeds.”

I hope you did and you better post updateeesssss! 👏👏👏(thats me clapping for you, not at you lol)🙌

Edit: is there a small all white one next to it?!?

You’re overlooking that all white one too. While it’s clearly dying off, it surely looks to be.

No doubt, this is a monstera. Ignore the others saying pothos.

This is exactly what my mostera seedlings looked like. Def a monstera

To me, this looks like low var aurea, actually. And yes, you can 100% grow monstera from seeds. It’s either a sport variegation- or it’s an aurea. Because it’s on both leaves, it could just have weak variegation- or it could get more variegated. You really never know. I disagree with people saying it’s a pothos. It’s growing upwards like a deliciousa. The petioles look like monstera, even the leaf shape. If it’s an aurea, that’s cool, too! However, I don’t think any look like albo 😪
