I will start sowing more from this month onwards, as the natural light levels are starting to increase and days are getting longer.
In January I was focusing on slow growing and long season plants, like Peppers and Chilis (which can still be sown now), but in February I am starting to sow more of quick growing crops that will have a better head start before March, when most of the seeds will be sown.
I as also starting to chit my potatoes, plus from now until mid-March is the best time to save money and order bare-root plants.

Do you have a favourite plant you sow or grow in February? 🌱💚🌿
Haha, don t count your chickens yet as more storms on the cards for you, bothis this and next month. My peas are up and first onions above ground.. Have just planted caulies out last week when we got rain. Just ponering how bad or how fsr west this big freeze comrs next week.
14 or 57 today and warm air for a change and 10 houts of sun light now. Is not a good ifesto grow beet in pots as they habe a taproot. There is an organic slug pellet on the market that dorsn t harm the bitds but must put in a tin orbox as is not waterproof. Seed keeps longer than you think if you keep in the bottom ofthe fridge as I brough a bicket full of seeds with me and still have plenty left and no reduction in germination. So buy plenty as much cheaper in bulk.
I want to be reasonable with my seeds purchases but I'm tempted to try everything I can get. So … 75 varieties to grow this year (and not enough place).
I live in Noth-east France, inland but with a kind of oceanic climate, and no greenhouse so I'll start to sow my peppers at the beginning of March.
Please, are you on the Iveragh or Beara peninsula? Temperatures on both are similar, but conditions quite different. I'm in Tahilla and trying hard to get used to our poor soil and very mild conditions here.
❤❤❤. What amazing order from gardensforlife! Happy planting.
Lovely video! February is still relaxing and watching videos – time. I've already sowed all seeds that need stratification, but I did try to wintersow some lettuce and rocket, since I had my sowing gear out for peppers, and had a look at all my seeds. Now I don't need to take it out again until March. I will check out Gardens for Life, thanks for the tip!
Have a great week!

Inspirational episode! I grew my favourite flower echinacea and tried Pow Wow from seed last year, 100% germination, but they sadly didn’t flower and not sure if they survived. Wasn’t brave enough to stratify sown, so mine are in the packets in the fridge. This year I’m trying Alan’s Pride amongst many others, fingers tightly crossed. I’ve also sown Achillea Marshmallow and have a few other ‘new to me’ seeds to sow. On the last side of cleaning the greenhouse, never seen so much green algae on it!

I have to sow leeks in February. My favourite. Will be chitting King Edwsrds and Golden Wonder too. Always start spuds soon
Hi Maiju, I never sow until March onwards in a greenhouse in NE uk, I used to grow raspberries, variety Joan J, easy to look after and very easy to make new plants from, take care….Steve
Started watching, I'm from and live in Iceland. Heard your accent and had to figure out where you were from. I heard the. Irish accent but also the undertone of something else. So I saw your name and a quick Google search later figured out that it is Finnish. Is that right? I love a good mystery.
I will definitely have to wait until mid Feb as we have a foot of snow and -3 daytime temps. But that does give me time to sort and plan. Fabulous choices Maiju here’s to a great season, Ali ❄️❄️❄️❄️⛄️🇨🇦
Hi Maiju, nice selection of potatoes. Question on the baby garlic will you be able to harvest any stem / leaves of them this year?
Great video thanks very much for the great information. Hope you have a great year in the garden.
So lucky to have that greenhouse space to get out and work on your planting.
I'm sitting on my hands for loads of sowing as I'm a later start than you are.
To your question…Feb is Alliums, Celery and Celeriac for me. Some winter sowing as well this month.
A great video, thank you. Can I ask if you make up your own seed starting mix or use a standard potting compost? Thanks
I've sown loads of flowers, this year, so much cheaper. I have onion and leek seedlings in the cold greenhouse and everything else indoors until they germinate. Great customer service for your Jerusalem artichokes. Jo Devon.
The joy in your face when you opened up that order 🥰🥰🥰
Where did you get the perennial spring onions seeds from
So nice to see the seeds going in! I'm yet to sow anything, but will be starting in a week or so with my peppers/chillies/aubergine and Zebrune shallots. I may get some sweet peas in this week and maybe broad beans- not sure if I am bothering this year though. Physallis will also go in and MAY try some celeriac, but lord knows where it will go! I figure if I don't sow it, then there is absolutely no chance of having any, at least if I have the plants, I have options!😂 I am about to head to the garden centre, what's the betting I come back with more spuds than I can grow! 😁
Your video just popped up. Hello from Co Meath 😊 i could hear a twang of an irish accent but something else too so went to the comments and see you're from Estonia 😊 look forward to watching
subbed and lovely to be here, love your accent x well done on 6k plus
That company does seem good. Love places that do more unusual edibles. I need to get my raspberry canes transplanted on the plot – it was on the list! Good selection of sowings and tips. I need to look at all the flowers I have and their diff sowing dates…
Shallot seeds!
In February, I start flower seeds inside for cutting – violas and pansies, eucalyptus, salvia, scabiosa, snapdragons, feverfew and statice. 😊 (zone 5b)

Great order 💚
I have to wait. We still have -7°C at night… and I don't have a greenhouse. But I plant up Onion and cale seeds inside. If my more tropical perenials don't make it, i have to grow them again in Feb. like ginger or kurkuma.
Greetings from Germany 😁
Hey lovely Maiju 🫶 had fun watching you sowing your seeds ❤
Be great to watch your elephant babies grow.
I’ve only planted our last years cloves of elephant garlic. No shop bought.
Wow look at those artichoke 😮beauties
I’m now heading to my seeds box 😂 do I have enough beetroot seeds? 😂 feel an order coming on!!
Definitely Chillies 🌶️ and Aubergines 🍆 spring to mind in Feb. ❤
