Pineapples are part of the bromeliad family, which are largely monocarpic i.e. they die after they flower (and in this case, fruit)
…but the good news is that they reproduce via pups, so if you check around the base, I bet you’ll see a lead of new green shoots!
You can also cut the top off the baby fruit and root that
The parent plant will survive a while longer – I trim leaves as they die off to keep it looking a bit tidier, and will split the new babies into their own pots once the parent dies off

Yes, as long as there is green, there is hope. Not sure what’s wrong with it though. Lack of sun, too much water or too little water would be my guess. This plant is not a forever plant, though. When the pinapple is ripe, the mother plant will eventually die. Usually it will put out babies befor that. You can also cut of the top of the pinapple (when it’s over-ripe), let it callous and then pot it to get a new plant. It takes about 2 years for a new plant to flower. I’ve never got them to flower though. I guess they need way more light than I gave them in order to thrive enough to flower.
