Eventually but it takes a year to ripen and if it isn’t it will irritate your throat. It’s best to do your research if you are interested, you’ll have plenty of time for it anyways.

Outside in ideally conditions it take from 3 month to 6 month maximum to produce seeds so for it to be eaten I doubt it would take 1 year that just sound very long time . Before my had flowers it took 3 month for the seeds to be ready for harvest
