#peas can be grown at home from seed in containers or in the ground. They prefer a sunny spot with well-drained soil.
When to plant
Sow #seeds in spring, from March to early July, when the soil temperature is at least 50°F (10°C)
For an earlier crop, sow in late winter or autumn
Start seeds indoors in autumn to protect them from pests
How to plant
Choose a sunny, well-drained spot
Dig in compost, manure, or mushroom compost to improve the soil
Make a shallow trench about 3 cm deep and 22 cm wide
Sow seeds in two parallel lines, about 10 cm apart
Cover with soil and water well
Label the row
How to care for
Keep the soil well-drained and provide plenty of sunshine
Add dolomite or lime to the soil to keep it slightly alkaline
Water regularly
Add a trellis to help the pea tendrils grow upright
When to harvest
#harvest peas when they are plump and full
