When we built the swimming pool (about 2 years ago) the re-did it with sod. Looks like they did a very poor job with the soil (no weeding, no leveling). Now looks like all different kinds of grass + weeds. I’m in LA so pretty dry. Have sprinkler system so I irrigate every day ($$$!!!). Where to start? Thanks!

  1. Start with a soil test to see if your soil needs amendment.

Edit: I’m seeing grass with stolons, probably Bermuda, that will spread. If you get the soil conditions right I bet your grass will come back.

Edit 2: look up proper watering for your grass. “Every day” is typically not correct. Deep and infrequent is preferred. Wait to water until you see signs of stress than reduce the interval by one day. Water to saturate the top 6” of soil.
