About 10 days to two weeks ago, Charles Dowding did a tour of his gardens. Think it was called January sunshine for your tour of Homacres. In it, he showed a magnetic device that was clamped around his water inlet pipe and he talked about it softening the water. Wasn't much detail but might be worth looking into.
Don’t put it past people to drive over your grass to get closer to your house. I’ve literally had amazon drivers drive onto my front lawn to get right up next to our front door! 🤦♀️
Yay i just convinced my husband last night i need tools to do more things in the yard and put all my hours of garden answer watching to good use finally 😂 will be looking at the store for the first time yay!
Where do you buy the rocks you use to top dress your pots? Do you always use them and is there a purpose besides the way they look. Thanks so much for your videos i have learned so much.
Have you contacted gardener supply? As much business as you send them they should send the bulbs you need immediately. I had never heard of gardener supply until I started watching your videos. Now I have a few things from them. Thanks Aaron and Laura. ❤
I have a violet that looks very healthy, but never blooms. Do you know why this would happen? It did get one flower a long time ago, but never a full bloom like you have.
The topic of not being able to get the needed bulbs from the supplier of the lights hits a sore spot in me as one year we bought Christmas lights that were unique shapes and colors from the large red circles store and in our Minnesota icy cold strung them all over the outside trees and eaves of the house and the very next day bulbs started blowing. We went back to the store and they didn't carry the replacement bulbs!!! In the trees we didn't mind but it seemed we spent many nights robbing from the tree lights to fill in the eave lights… Worst holiday light fiasco ever!
I remember a rock polisher being one of the best gifts I was given as a child 😊 We kept ours in the garage. I don’t think it was any larger than 1 cubic ft. I recently found out my parents would add in one or two special already polished rocks they bought every time 😅
We have a water softener that treats all the water inside the house. We also have a reverse osmosis filter system under the kitchen sink that has a dedicated spigot next to the regular faucet. I use that RO water on my plants and it’s fine…it removes the salt. We cook with that as well as use it for drinking and it tastes much better than unfiltered softened water. You might want to look into that. When we built our house we had it set up for the system and had a line run to the refrigerator…we don’t need to use the replaceable filters.
Fun story: traveling from SLC to Portland I paid a visit to the garden center. I filmed my visit and was treated so graciously. No issues. Didn’t have the opportunity to meet Laura, Monica, or mom, but had a wonderful visit.
Hi Aaron and Laura! I love your videos and I Iearn so much! A question about your mics, most of your video today seemed like there wasn't enough volume. Was it because you weren't wearing mics or if the volume wasn't turned up? I found I really had to turn my tv volume up to hear. Keep up the awesome work and giving us knowledge and lots of pretty things to see!
My cat weighed 18lbs. and had super long hair, people would back up then say " Is it safe? " Dropped 1/2 lbs. after vet recommended diet, most gentle cat I've had. Dear sweet Bennie
Okay, this is my third time asking this question: What drill bit did you use in drilling holes in the white/blue urns?? I looked for any reference in that video but not could find anything listed. I was hopful that you could answer my question in this recap viedo:/
I’ve been watching for a long long time and seen you plant a lot of different echinacea. Those were some of the early plants in the south garden. I have always wondered if they all made it throughout the years? Which took, spread or stayed straggly looking? Would you be up for an update on all the echinacea you’ve planted in the garden?
Here in northernmost Illinois our water softener installers do not pipe the kitchen sink into the system because our water is rather hard. It is a boon for the rest of the house however. We also have a whole house filter to remove bad minerals that should not be there. By passing your kitchen sink is an easy thing for a plumber to do and not horribly costly.
If you’re open to suggestions keep the kitchen garden and restrain the pickets fence. It’s time to redo the beds to Laura’s hip height! Maybe add landscape fabric to keep the arborvitae roots away?
Ahhhh, Benjamin, he's the man….enjoy your toy guns, buddy. At your age, you shouldn't have to worry what other people think, you do you little man you're awesome. ❤❤❤
Laura, I learned the hard way about watering my plants with the softened water in my new house. In the summer I can get it from my irrigation water. In winter I fill plastic gallon jugs at my daughters and have them handy to use.
I wondered if you and Aaron know about the Rice Northwest Museum Of Rocks & Minerals just west of Portland, OR. We have visited many times ; I am a retired 4th grade school teacher and have lead groups of students through on field trips as well. If you are ever in this area, I believe Benjamin would be fascinated by the hands on displays as well as the vast variety of samples. The museum is a true Oregon treasure!
Yes, a foxtail fern is a type of asparagus fern. Just look it up. Other names; Cat's tail asparagus, Myer's asparagus, and Emerald fern. I have two types of the asparagus fern in my yard (zone 8b) and they both do well. in zone 9 or 10 they can become invasive.
When I was a kid, I used to ride the horse to the top of the pasture where we had 3 mulberry trees. Dark purple, light purple, and white. The horse would eat the lower ones and I'd eat what was at my level. We'd both came home purple. If I could manage to pick enough, Mom would make a wonderful pie!!
I had the same problem trying to find replacement bulbs on GS website. I called them and they were able to call them up and order them for me. Have you given them a call?

Have you heard the song? "Purple People Eater" is a comedy song from the 50s. It's fun! I loved it as a small child.

Aaron and Laura kill me sometimes 😂😂😂 the red baron comment and the confused look on Laura's face had me dying 😂 🤣 😂 I think Aaron is hungry
Who will "clean" up the horse mess?
A Crabapple tour would be great!

Actually, I didn't know Laura had a planting season. She plants all the time. I love it.

I have a beautiful fruitless mulberry try one of them
How about coming back to the Philadelphia Flower show which is in the beginning of March?

Normally the cold water at your kitchen sink is not softened. Is yours different?

If I use tap water on houseplants, it kills them. I have enough trouble keeping them alive without that.
Hi! Can you ask the electricians that hung your lights recently? They'll know all about bulbs and probably have a source. 💡🌱

I called Gardeners Supply when I couldn't find the tubes for grow lights on their web site. They sent me what I needed.

Our horses would eat the Mulberry leaves like potato chips!
Hi Laura, how many horses do you ultimately want? Do you have a particular breed in mind?

What about putting an Airtag on Douglas for a few days just to see where he travels?
Blue Sky is a safe place away from X!

That’s funny. Aron. Thought of pizza when you said red baron. I thought of snoopy!

Laura you can have family and friends save water jugs and fill water from outside and bring jugs in doors, doing several at a time.
Lisianthus are up, petunias for curb appeal, eucalyptus & snail vine. Will be starting more both indoors & winter sowing
Hi..im just wondering if the previous home owners of your home have seen all the changes to the property ..and are they amazed 😊like we all are??
MIgardener did a video on Grow lights and lumens.

I think you should put the rock in the pond so you can enjoy. It would look beautiful at the edge of water or even in the water.
