Thank you for such an informative video. I believe Dr. Block when he says that highly variegated plants will see a downturn sooner than later. β€ Laurie Canada π¨π¦

Decluttering is useful. The sansevieria coppertone is weird and slow growing but beautiful.
Plant gay for life is a wonderful new YouTuberπ I have been noticing and subscribing to newer smaller plant YouTube channels. No worries, though. I am still watching you and Wild Fern and Firefly in the roomπ I think the world could use more plant friends right nowπ
I love the Philos I've got, but I'm not looking to buy more – not even self-heading. There are gorgeous Anthurium that don't need moss poles. I think moss poles will remain for the collectors, in a more curated capacity, but tank for the casual hobbyist. I've got 4 and I'm not looking for more! I think you're absolutely right about the back to basics trend. At the same time, I think people are looking into different genera. The off the beaten path plants are the new "rare" plants. The ones that spark conversations. Not that some of those Sansivieria you showed wouldn't start a convo! People have been given permission, so to speak, by SM to downsize and they're going for it. I'm at a good amount of plants – but I'll be swapping plants out as I get some new ones. I think bigger, easier statement plants will gain popularity as people clear out the 4"-6" pots… And begonia. I lost my rex at the end of last year (over watered) and have no interest in trying again. But there are a lot of people, like you and Emma, who like them! Enjoy! That's all I have to say about that π
Fully agree with your assessment. Have to say that anthurium hybrid names are becoming a bit ridiculous – Iβm always impressed when plant people remember the complicated names of double crossed hybrids in their collections (makes the old botanical plant names seem easy!)
Iβm so glad you brought up easy care plants. I had a massive downsize the second half of last year and halved my collection. Iβve never loved and appreciated my βeasy careβ plants more.
I want all the weird snake plants too!!!
I am a person that prefer a non-variegated plant. but there are some I do like.
Iβm so excited to be on the same wavelength about 2025 plants as you! In the last month, Iβve started my pothos global Green on a lazy pole, planted a terrarium (no begonias though) and really enjoyed my sanseveriasβ¦ my wish list includes Hoya obovata, alocasia regal shield and scindapsus pictus exotica -nothing flashy, just straightforward, lovely plants. Hope 2025 is the best year ever ππ±β¨
I think there will be more unusual plants coming back in. I remember when I was a kid there were a lot of very cool cactus which I never see now. So hope so. Finally got a tephrocactus geometricus for my bday yes it was from me. But still.
I see hybrids doing well as people still want something new and something they can still enjoy.
I'm not on social media so miss out on a lot of that which I think is a really good thing.
I have been slacking with my plants but I love all the plants I have. Well.. I have 30plus plants for other people that have not been to collect them some rage as that is a lot of room for stuff I want hehe. But one day they will show and get their plants.
Most of my plants are on the more chill side.
I like this kind of video.
Have fun

I love your collection and you have such a beautiful variety of plants. Iβm retired and after watching you, Emma and Wildfern my collection has grown but I am loving my begonias lately more than ever. I am thinning out the plants that really donβt seem to keep my interest. That and mealy bugs are popping up lately. Look forward to all your videos.
I love all your videos Clair
The βbasicβ plants are so underrated. I love me an unusual plant, but they do give me more troubles than my tried and true plants like zz, pothos, snake plant ect. Like the zz plant is so underrated. I realized recently just how much this plant has put up with me over the years and never complains π
Great video! How do you make sure you don't get tons of fungus gnats from moss poles? π€« πNEW π π¦ π΅
I guess less isn't more afterall. More is moreπ
I recently tried an experiment by putting runner bamboo in a container, just out of curiosity.. wish me luck
I was never into plants with only two or three large leaves. The individual leaf itself is pretty but if Iβm going to have a plant in my house I want it as part of my decor and to be lush and thriving.
Even Walmart now here in the states sells monstera Thai constellations for $30
I love your waffling, I live for waffleππ₯°
29:50 Growing in different ways. I have been doing this all winter. I go to Thrift stores looking for non-planty things that I can put plants in. e.g., A mug tower can be shoved, upside down into a plant pot, & a smaller pot can sit on top. Now I have a 2-tiered planter. I have a Baltic Blue climbing on a Xmas tree shaped cupcake tower, complete with battery lighting.
I totally agree with you about the variegation looking like a virus or disease on Anthurium add Alocasia pink ones….no thanks. But like you thawts just MY opinion. Loved this tends vid Claire… thank you π ππΌ
I definitely feel like that 2025 will be a year of Begonia. Because I see with many of creators that i follow are starting to enjoy and explore the genus more which lead to me exploring it more and oh my goodness.. there is so many shapes, colours, sizes, textures within the genus that my mind is just in awe of what nature is able to create π₯°

Oh girl, it is so painful when you find out your video has not recorded or your microphone stopped working in the middle of the video. That just happened to me and had to do a voice over. So frustrating!!! Love your channel!
Thank you for explaining how the process of Hybrids work. I had no idea once a hybrid you cannot get another one except through TC.
I never liked variegation especially on Anthurium. I totally 100% agree with you they look sick with it.
Ok i havent watched yet. All i can say is ive had plants for yrs and recently my fondness has grown even more and ive been drawn to alocasias ans pothos this yr. Also ive had a polka dot begonia for 18yrs. And i love her β€
For sure I been dealing with declutter my collection, and styling them better. Last year I did purchase some cactus π΅ as they donβt grow big or fast and theyβre so cute.
Iβm so glad youβre talking about sansevieria. In my collection, I have quite a few varieties of snake plants on my mantel. It didnβt get loads of light but theyβre all thriving regardless!
The tai is already at Walmart π
Why is the sansevaria copper tone the ugly gorgeous I need in my collection π€©
Ive wanted the coppertone amd moonshine for years, maybe this is the year π
i use a tracker who tells me when to water my plan its pretty helpful ! (its called wateringhelper)
I totally agree with you on the variegated anthuriums.
I donβt particularly care for varigation either! The only one I like is the Ti-con and the snow queen pothos? Lol
I've found myself collecting smaller plants like weird cacti and succulents because they don't grow that fast. My faves right now are gasteria and adromischus marianiae
I would love to get alocasia Nobilis Pink Variegata and Alo Black Velvet Pink β€ I ordered some corms from Phillipines, but they never arrived. I got my money back but I wanted the corms!! π₯ I guess I will have to wait for a couple more years for the prices to drop π€
Well, I always had these basic plants, and never gave them up. Only added Alocasias and Anthuriums, and Hoyas until I ran out of space and light. The basic greens are the background, and still give me joy when they thrive.
I totally agree with you that variegated Anthuriums look sick, and stunted. Maybe because their leaves are so beautiful from the beginning, that there is no way to improve them further. When humans fiddle around with them, they simply lose their original beauty.
What I have in mind for the coming year, is trying Philodendrum scandens on a moss pole, or the P.micans, because they look so stunning when getting bigger leaves. Or the Epipremnum Cebu Blue – IΒ΄m in search for Ideas how to make more space for them.
And I might try out some of those interesting Begonias.
Seems like I'll have my hands full and dirty!π
Iβm just starting to watch and Iβm laughing because I bought a pothos today because I wanted a classic. 70 plus houseplants, and I didnβt have a pothos yet π
I feel like 2024 was the year of the anthurium, and I think thatβll go into 2025. I predict that Begonias will be in this year. I agree that 2025 will be the year of less-is-more, and weβll see βsimplerβ plants
10:00 on the topic of sansevieria, OnlyPlants and MillenialPlantDad have good videos on them.
What Hoya and ZZ plant do you recommend for a beginner with these two plants?
Beautiful plants Claire! π± Thank you for featuring my Philodendron Amazon Sunset post! π€ great video as always π
