  1. If gum trees are a soft wood, cause I have no idea. I don't think they will produce as much as the 1 oak log. Most love hardwood. This will be fun to check out in the future.

  2. Jason I know you don't have a tractor or a sawmill at this time but I would encourage you to locate a person in your area that has a saw mill and can process at least some of that wood for you to air dry for later use. You already have the space necessary in your older barn loft. That investment will pay off big time in years ahead. Trust me.

  3. Hey – with drilling and placing plugs all around the piece of log…does that prohibit the mushrooms from growing on the bottom of the log?

Should they not be on the bottom where the log is on the pallet or ground or wherever placed down???

  4. Remember if they have been tapped for more than a few weeks with nothing flowing the taps will start to close up and you’ll never have anything

  5. I love your sense of humor Jason, so entertaining! Family affair…Use what's free resources from the land, that's what I learned from a neighbor who was raised on a farm and mentored me for 11 years until he passed away in 2018. Syrup cool! Dinner & dessert is served Enjoy! Peace, Darlene

  6. Always enjoy your videos. We've never tried to grow mushrooms, we always hunt for morels on our property. Hope you have success!

  7. Mike Morgan asked viewers once to watch each commercial in its entirety. I try to watch every commercial. I have certain channels that I enjoy and want them to benefit. If there's something that you don't like, don't watch but, watch what you accept and it does help your preferred channels. 👌 👍👊

  8. 40 to 1 sap to syrup. In our parts, maples tend to expel the most syrup when it is below freezing during the night and then above freezing during the day.

  9. I have never grown mushrooms from spores. I was interested why you do not have to wax the ends of the logs. It would seem that would help it not dry out. But, like I say, I have never done it – just curious.

  10. Greeting from Wisconsin. We tapped our trees last Saturday because our temps are going to be below freezing at night and above freezing during the day. We have never tapped in January and are having success already! The ratio is 40:1 (40 gallons of tree sap for 1 gallon of syrup). Terribly warm temps without precipitation here this winter, have only had about 3” of snow this winter. Usually we get dumps of 1-2’ each week or two.
Thank you for the mushroom growing demo & information and it doesn’t seem too difficult. I’m thinking of adding mushrooms to my journey of growing my own foods. The thrift store small crockpot is an excellent idea.

  11. Hello, i saw the carnivore videos when you had tsw/eczema. After how many days where you clear and what were the main triggers. What is your diet now?

  12. Wow! We’ve been thinking of doing mushrooms and you made it look doable for us. We are going to get started all due to your video. Thank you!

  13. 椎茸は出汁が出るので、スープに入れたり、小麦をつけてバターソテーにしてもいけますよ☺️

  14. Once spring hits the sap will really start to run check them daily, once the trees start leaf out and bud seal off the hole with some bees wax 🙂

  15. Great homestead projects. I like the oh shiii…takis part. Soon sugaring here its still seberia weather. We have logs established, hoping to do more varietys. Good luck.. its nice to see the same struggles as us. 😊 ty

  16. I started using green popular trees about 4 years ago, I now look forward to storms. We use plug innoculators and stack the logs on the edge of the swamp (no sun always damp) even the neighbors are now turning down free mushrooms.
