Over the last 1-2 months I have been losing a lot of leaves off this monstera. On average I’d say 1 leaf is yellowing and dying off a week. Most of them have been the largest and closest to the base of the plant. It has tried to send up one new leaf at the base of the plant in that time and it just yellowed and shrivelled up once it reached about 2 inches in length.
It has been in front of this window for about 18 months and was about 1 foot high when I adopted it. It seemed to do well for the first year (Aug 2024 photo) and then started to get really leggy at the tops of the main three shoots. I thought perhaps it wasn’t getting enough light given it was so lengthy without putting out new leaves, but now I wonder if it’s getting too much light? This is an east facing window that gets a lot of bright morning sun. Given it was struggling I pruned and tried to propagate some of the leggy vine around a month ago.

My watering habits have not changed in this time. I water when the top of the soil is dry, on average every 7-10 days.

I know losing a few leaves here and there is normal but I’m worried as it hasn’t had any new leaves in a long time. Sorry for the long post. Any advice is very much appreciated!

Hi, are those white specs on the leaves in the first picture maybe mealy bugs?

Itdefinitely looks like it hasn’t been getting enough light. If it’s winter where you’re at, it’s getting even less light exposure. Low light exposure means that it does not need to be watered that often.

The vines aren’t able to support themselves when they’re that long. Your best bet is to prune it, propagate the cuttings, decrease water, and increase light.
