Hmm, do you leave it upside down while it is drying out? The way it fell apart looks like it rotted.

When I first started, I was also soaking them right before bedtime for about 2 months before I learned to not to do that.

Who said it can’t be watered at night? Mine 95% of the time were watered at night, were always deep soaked never mist nor light soak. After I’ve done soaking, I shake off the excess water and let it sit upside down on a cotton napkin for the whole night with the ceiling fan on, I always soaked my tillandsia a few hours before I went to bed, so I slept with the ceiling fan on while using the fan to dry my tillandsia as well.

I have them since 4 July 2024, they never have any issue with rot, they all are happy and healthy tillandsia, with wide open leaves. The only issue they are having is not enough light, because they kept losing their reddish colour whenever they started turning reddish, kinda disappointing myself when I saw them losing their blooming opportunity 😢.
