My ponytail palm got all it’s leaves cut with scissors by my little cousin, how do i fix it?
My little cousin cut all the leaves off my ponytail palm with some scissors and i don't know if it will survive or not i water it once a month and it's getting light under a grow lamp.
you don’t, you’ll have to wait for it to grow back

You cut your little cousins ponytail off and stick it to the ponytail palm đ«¶đ»

Leaves will grow back and as they do, the short cut leaves will turn brown and dry and you can pick them off. Also, as someone with a ponytail, keep that kid away from scissors.

it will survive. just continue to care for it and be patient as it will take a while.

Feed it the tears of your little cousin after you get your revenge.

You’ll be fine. I accidentally cut off all of my ponytail palm’s leaves when I was giving it a trim. It was really infested with scale so it was probably for the best. It’s a year later and now I have three growth spots on the stem, each thicker than the original one.

Maybe get it a hat to wear when it goes out.

Tell cousin they can have the haircut they want when it grows back, and until then itâs scissor time.

Garnish their allowance for the New Palm Fund. Their parents will likely be very on board with an opportunity to teach them not to destroy living things.

Just make sure not to overwater, you donât want the soil to be soggy while the leaves grow back, otherwise itâll start to rot
PurpleTangent
Other commenters have it pretty well covered, just wait and it’ll recover.
One thing to note though: It’s going to be needing a lot less water for the foreseeable future, water is mostly used in photosynthesis which its going to be doing a lot less of without those leaves. Keep watering it with the same amount, but a lot less often. đ

Make the cousins give a blood sacrifice to fertilize your palm so itâll grow back faster. Be sure to dilute, straight blood will burn it.

Treated the same as always, it will grow

Im no expert at all. But does anyone else think it will grow back stronger? Iâve read that on some plants cutting back the leaves gives it more energy or something like that.
But shouldnât OP cut it down to base since it needs to sprout totally new leaves and canât heal the chopped ones? Please educate me and OP!

I did this to mine when it had mealy bugs. It grew back with no assistance really fast.

Some castor oil and rice water might do the trick

While yours is indoors, keep it warm; it likes shallow pot (has shallow root system) with good drainage; and put it by a sunny window. As soon as summer rolls around, put it outside under filtered sunlight so direct sun wonât burn the leaves and it will grow very quicklyâ even though itâs considered a slow-growing plant.
Give it light, omg I couldnât believe it when I saw it, at least it didnât leave it bald đłI forgot to say donât water, pony tail are not palms they are cactus family. They store water in their trunk. I killed one by overwatering years ago.

Be aware that without leaves the plant will have a reduced ability to process water- youâll likely want to cut back on frequency a bit, though 1x a month is still probably fine

It looks like an onion đđđ but it will survive almost for sure, they’re hearty and the leaves will grow back. It will look messed up for a few years though tbh.

I chopped my ponytail palm to nothing and after a few months I see new leaves coming out

Feel your feelings, then proceed to use your tears to water this unfortunate plant, and water it less until it shows signs of regrowth. (It needs less water because of the less leaves, and overwatering right now is my biggest concern, rot will spell the end for the plant) but you do have a decent chance for it to start regrowing after a time.
*don’t really use your tears, storebought H20 is fine.

My chickens ate mine down this short once and it came back just fine.
The cat eats any fronds she can reach. The thing lives with a bowl cut. I named it Salad in honor of itâs apparent deliciousness.

Feed it a weak liquid fertilizer if you want it to regrow leaves quick as possible
