Don’t be concerned, many plants grow aerial roots. they won’t effect the health of the plant if you left them to grow or cut them off. It’s pretty much just a cosmetic choice of what you prefer to look at. You can cut from anywhere along the length of the root , you can also try and twirl it around the plant and stick back into the soil.

You can apply moist towels for a while which makes the root bendy and then guide the root to the pot with the rest of the roots and it will start doing root stuff like regular roots

Cut it off. When it starts to grow back cut it off again or direct them back into the dirt. Mine took hold and acts like another anchor. Some people braid them. Not my thing but if it works for you then go for it.
