Georgina Knightley from Melbourne has been designing homes since she was a child, but she’s never got around to building anything, until now. Time is of the essence, as her two daughters are at high school, so if she is going to create a true family hub then she has to act fast.

  1. Makes me angry that neighbors and council made their dream home such a difficult project but, despite it not being exactly as originally planned, the end result is still just fabulous. ✨✨✨

  2. The combination of nasty jealous neighbors and bureaucrats that behave like mafias would've been enough to put off anyone with less drive and determination than this brave couple; kudos to them for that beautiful home they built.

  3. This is exactly why you should hire professionals to help you. They know how to handle all the bureaucracy and can save you a lot of money and time.

  4. Another story of wastefulness… knocking down a perfectly good home to build another… be satisfied with what you have instead of feeling the "need" to put up something that caused a lot of grief for them and animosity amongst the neighbors and ending up with a project that stretched their finances beyond their means

  5. I would never build in any area where there are rules, regulations and neighbors who restrict creativity or practicality. Compromise is when both parties lose and it is unnecessary. One cannot reason with those who do not use reason

  6. Councils is part of government and it can be so pathetic. All over….Why do you have to live your life and build your dreams according to someone else way and beliefs…rules is too strict for nothing…really pathetic if you ask me……

  7. That is why it is best not to take shortcuts. It would be interesting to hear the view from the actual neighbors and what they planned to do that got rejected. Consult with a proffesional who works with the council laws and rules and regulations and avoid disappointment. It will make a boring show though, so quite enjoy all the drama.

  8. This house is beautiful … large living space & cozy bedrooms … BUT … demolishing perfectly gorgeous house and being upset for counsil & neighbours demanding permits for new built 🤦‍♀️

  9. This family had a dream and vision and stuck with it. Their neighbors as is the case many times were envious and self loathing characters that cant stand seeing others flourish and succeed. Good for them on not giving up and making it a reality and as far as those neighbors that moved out well good luck ! Now go somewhere else and spread your venom elsewhere. I wish them many years of happiness and success well done. Ttfn

  10. We can all have an opinion on style, the demolition and reasons for doing this. But they are lovely people, tried to do good by the neighbourhood in the beginning by giving away plants etc. The council and neighbours should be ashamed of themselves. I wish them well. I would not have survived this.

  11. Lesson: never tear down the wall that keeps you within a legal defined status. They tried to outsmart the council and bypass the law… They got a deserved slap on the wrist. The law is there to be complied with and upheld. The neighbors sucked in this instance and behaved like creeps
