Having a growing wet spot in the furthest part of my yard towards the alley.

I have no irrigation, water or sewer lines in that corner of the yard. The wet spot is between a border wall with the neighbor and my shed.

My neighbor has no irrigation or waste pipes in the area on his side of the wall.

When I dig into the spots the soil is moist underneath.

I am in arizona desert. Any ideas?

  1. condensation/dew collecting on the roof overnight and dripping down?

Roof overhang would certainly make sense, if there is one right there, like u/mrplinko said.

Otherwise it gets more complicated from there… If it’s not because more water is coming from above that spot, then it broadly means 1 of 2 things:
    – water is coming from below (aquifer/ground water percolating up for some reason)
    – that soil is, for some reason, drying out (draining and/or evaporating) more slowly from dew/rain than the surrounding soil is.
