I finally decided to build a chicken coop in my backyard as I have a goal of hunting/growing 50% of my own food by 2026.

I was considering building out a new youtube channel for my growing and chicken coop, but for now I’m going to keep everything under the South Florida Fishing Channel as running 2 channels is extremely hard to manage.

  1. We have Easter eggers chickens and would add sand after removing rocks. They will devour any greens u add like grass. We feed our hens all leftovers veggies scraps watermelon rhines most stuff u would compost.. good luck ! There fun to watch : )

  2. Nice to have a new project, but you know that this is going to stink? My neighbour has a coup at the back of our properties and you can smell it (really bad!!) from about 30-40 ft!!

  3. Box in the bottom of the run with 2x12s and fill with sand. That'll keep the run relatively dry and dry out the poop. Then you'll be able to sift out the pooplettes to use as fertilizer for your plants

  4. Good luck with the chicken coop. We look forward to watching you build it. We recommend that you add an RV ventilation fan or other fans of some kind to the coop and maybe a garden mister to keep the chickens cool in the hot Florida Keys weather. We also know that you have to travel for other kinds of work, videos, and fun and recommend adding automatic feeders and water feeders that will help you take care of the chickens while you are away. We also recommend stainless steel trash cans to store your extra feed supplies and keep out the mice, raccoons and other animals. Finally, many recommend that you bury in the ground more chicken fencing horizontally out from the chicken coop to stop raccoons from digging under your vertical fencing around the whole coop. This guy has some great ideas on coop design for easy cleaning and automatic feeders and water devices: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yR6TD4tAoUk

  5. Hey I started out with 30 Birds it was too much too fast 2 years ago and now I'm getting rid of them tomorrow thank God but anyway I will be in Key Largo in a little over a week if I find you I will give you an egg scale

  6. That is an ultimate party deck and bruh you have a dream house (so many facets to the backyard. Not to mention on the water. Word of advice when you settle down with a woman let her have the inside designing and you take the outside, happy wife happy life. Cheers!

  7. You're going to have to start a new channel soon, "South Florida Farming Channel" 😆 🤣 😂

All the crops, hives and now chickens lol

  8. Sec. 4-76. – Keeping wild animals and livestock.
    (a) Zoning. No livestock, as defined in section 4-1, or barnyard animals such as chickens, ducks or geese, shall be kept either penned or loose in any area unless permitted by the county. Animals considered wild shall not be kept in any residential area in the county. Horses kept for police purposes are exempt from the minimum land requirements of this section.

Just trying to help out before somebody says something.

  9. Hieko, i've been watching you for years. As soon as Trump gets rid of the Canadian border, I'm coming down to Florida to fish with you!

  10. How's the new chicken coop coming along?🐔Raised quails a while ago and they were so much fun & easy to look after!!🐣

  11. Man!! you still got that range rover you can use that as a chicken coop.😂😂😂 sell that to get your supplies.🤔🤔.. Chickens don't need a lot of space. Only on days that you're letting them out, that's their space.. my clients have chicken coops up here. I get some my eggs from.. during the daytime, they're home, they let them out.. anything that catch beetles and flies. They can eat them.. Put them in a little bit of water. I know chickens will go crazy. And enjoy their meal. But you do need to get rid of that range rover👂🏽,🤦 you're not using it.. Pac rat is a mindset..👍🏾🤝🏽💈💪🏾🤝🏽💜.. be easy captain..😂👍🏾..hey keep up the good work.

as for chickens easter eggers blue. you need lage comb chickens so they can keep cool.

  13. myers hatchery in ohio always sent healthy birds and great percentage female, so much so pretty sure they were 100% on 30+ chickens ove 3 years. anytging that does start crowing tlike rooster should be harvested for food immediately. they are not necessary
