Hey everyone,

We’re Intelligent Firefighting Solutions, a small startup from Germany. We're currently exploring the idea to adapt bladder-based backpack sprayers — originally designed for firefighting — to better suit the needs of gardeners, farmers, and landscapers. Here's an example of the firefighting backpack sprayer.

These sprayers are already proven in firefighting for their efficiency, durability, and ergonomics, and we believe they could offer significant improvements over current gardening sprayers (example of a typical gardening sprayer).

Key Features We’re Exploring:

  • Ergonomic Design: Reduced strain and increased comfort for extended use.
  • Soft Bladder Tank: Compact, lightweight, and easy to transport.
  • Easy Refilling: Refill while standing, directly from a hose or container, without removing the backpack.
  • Modular Design: Switch between a powered pump, manual pump, or even a leaf blower attachment.
  • Simplified Maintenance: Replace the pump easily without complicated disassembly while keeping the tank intact.

We’d Love Your Input:

  1. Common Issues: What challenges or limitations do you face with current backpack sprayers?
  2. Essential Features: What functionalities would make a sprayer indispensable for gardening and agricultural tasks?
  3. Would you be open to the idea of a soft bladder tank instead of a solid one?
  4. Additional Feedback: Any other suggestions to make this product as useful as possible?

We’re still in the early stages of development and want to ensure this product is both functional and reliable for everyday use. Thank you so much for your time and insights!

Not much point being able to fill when standing, we’re not just pumping water. Unless you can figure out a way to add the chemicals as well it’ll still have to be taken off.

A backpack sprayer costs less than A$50, how much are yours?

I’d be worried the chemical would eat through the bladder. I’d start there. Nothing else really matters unless that is solved.
