Our avocado plant was grown in water then we planted it into the soil. It sits outside under the verandah out of the high heat next to the banana tree. The leaves started to go brown and more and more across the plant like shown. What is the cause and how can I fix this?
The plant gets full light about 1/3 of the daylight hours.

Did the problem start when you moved it to soil? Or shortly after?
Also something is totally eating it. The chunks out of the leaves didn’t just decide to go, unless those missing bits went brown then fell off? But..it looks like something is munching on it
Might be transplant shock and stress. Transplant shock can do weird things to plants sometimes. Give it a week or two to adjust. Make sure you are not using too much water or fertilizer. And be sure you have the right soil mix. And be sure you have the right amount of light and the right type of lighting for your tree indoors. Being indoors after being outside can also cause some stress for plants. Especially if it is done suddenly rather than gradually. And be sure to empty the tray under your pot of water if you have a tray under your pot. If you do not do that it can sometimes cause root rot with some plants. Sorry I cannot offer more helpful advice. But do check out everything to see if you have done everything you can correctly. And if it has been over 2 weeks let us know.
They’re sensitive to mites and leaf rollers. The browning along the veins looks like mite damage. Flip the leaves over and see if you can find any webbing (I’ll look like spider webs).
I’m not sure how well an avocado tree will do inside specially in a pot considering they grow like mango trees. I have 3 in the back of my house, back neighbor.
Avocado trees are very sensitive to chlorides.
what was it planted in? what was it fertilized with?
This is either Thrip damage & maybe leaf rollers, or Chloride damage or both.
Check the ingredients on your potting soil & fertilizer.
check for insects. Then get back to me for advice on how to fix.
Try speaking nicely to the water you use to water it
