Thinking about planting a new tree in place of the photo attached (sadly this tree got infected and died). Thinking of a trident maple or autumn brilliance serviceberry. Which would look better in the space and once grown to maturity. Would then maple become too large?

I think a serviceberry would be lovely. Cornus florida (flowering dogwood) would be another great option and it’s the state flower of north cackalacky. A maple would be nice too but they do get pretty big eventually. I strongly suggest using a straight species, not a cultivar.

  2. I think American hophornbeam *Ostrya virginiana*, Carolina silverbell *Halesia carolina*, or Sourwood *Oxydendrum arboreum* would look really cool here.
