Welcome back to my kitchen garden!
As we enter a new year, you may be considering starting your first vegetable garden or even securing an allotment. If you’ve never tried to ‘Grow Your Own,’ you might feel unsure about where to begin.
When taking on a new growing space, there are a few basics to consider. Some of these may seem obvious, but they can easily be overlooked if you don’t plan carefully. It doesn’t matter whether your space is large or small; the same principles will apply.
Whatever your reasons for wanting to grow your own food, we all know that it can significantly benefit our health and well-being. Now is the perfect time to get started!
I have been growing my own fruit and vegetables for over four decades. Throughout the years, I’ve had many gardens and an allotment, which has allowed me to gather plenty of experience.
In this episode, I’ll share my tips and advice in the hope of inspiring you to take those first steps toward creating your very own vegetable garden.

Great timing Annie as I'm just about to start my back garden. Hope you had a great festive season.👌👍🙏😁❤️
A good tips video for beginners 👏👏👏
Have a great week Annie ❤️ xx
Plant pots can sometimes be found at garden centres where they do a recycling project. Some places will have a drop off point usually near entrance but it also so people can pick up what they want for free or a charity donation. Always handy to know! As well as Facebook marketplace and asking friends x
Loving the video Annie so helpful and different to everyone else. You have a fantastic way of bringing this information across.
A great too is find YouTubers with years of experience and not ones who have been doing it for a few years, confess to know what they are doing and are selling books!
If a slug or big eats a lead or two the plants aren't dead 🙄 they will continue to grow more leaves! I see so many too plants out and but more and it's a waste of money!
This is a great video and I'm going to share it to our allotment WhatsApp group. We have a lot of new plot holders and I'm sure this will help them get started when planning out their first year of growing.
Great info packed starter video for newbies. Where do you buy your black labels and white marker pen, please? re the abels brittle/snap proof. I labl all my plants in the garden but at teh end of the season, the labels snap and my S.A> labels fall off. Also how do I remove the ink when wanting to re-use the labels? Many thanks. Happy growing 🙂
Love the old pictures Annie ❤. I wish I had more pictures of here when we moved in 15 years ago but who knew YouTube would be in my future 😂😂. I’m like you give it a try and see what works. Have a wonder week with Mr Paddy ❤, Ali 🥶🥶 -5c 🇨🇦
