I’m a first time plant owner 😭 I got this Ficus Lyrata from the nursery 2 weeks ago and its leaves have turned brown and dropped really quickly since then. I looked up the internet and the result is always overwatering or underwatering. How do I know which is which? Since getting this plant I only watered it twice. It arrived at my place covered in dust, a lot of dust so I spent a good 30-minute wiping the leaves with a rag. My partner said I probably stressed out the leaves. Is it true? 😭 I really want to save this plant. Any ficus lyrata expert out there who can give me some advice? The plant is in a good corner where there’s decent indirect sunlight. I also live in a tropical country so no winter or harsh temperature to speak of.

Probably to much water, I had this issue when I moving and watered heavy because it wouldn’t be there but it stopped once i had, I didn’t let it dry out enough. hopefully that helps good luck, beautiful fiddle fig btw mine is tall and lanky cause I didn’t think about topping it soon enough

How does the leaf feel? It doesn’t look very crispy, which would make me second the notion that this is over watering. Also twice in 2 weeks seems a lot, unless you’re in a warm climate at the moment.
Since it’s still new, I wouldn’t repot especially cause it might still be damp from your over watering. Let it dry out fully before your next watering
More light.
Did you forget to tell it good morning?😆 FF get their feelings hurt easy.
These guys love light – they need to be transitioned to direct light, but once they’re acclimated they drink up direct light. I keep mine right in a southwest facing window. Part of the leaf drop may be adjusting to getting much less light than it was getting in the nursery.
Cut out the rotted roots and repot. This is due to too much watering. Happened to my Rubber plant. Turns out it’s a root rot.
