It’s the start of 2025 and I outline my plans for gardening including what my strategy will be for winter sowing and seed starting, new crops and varieties of vegetables, herbs, flowers, natives and perrenials I’m planning. And other recent developments related to the coming year.

  1. Hi Esther & well done for reaching 10k! You deserve girl you're great! Take care of yourself with all you're planning! Love & blessings Mary xxx❤

  2. Congratulations! Okra will go crazy. Years ago I tried it in Arlington, VA and one seedling grew into a large bush (size of a Christmas tree) and was super productive. Friends enjoyed the okra but I'm not a fan so I never grew it again. Now I grow only the things I love.

  3. Hey Esther good to hear from you, boy sounds like you got a busy year lined up for you, can’t wait to see your next update, congrats on 10000 subs.

  4. Congratulations Ester! 🎉 Great news about your 2 community gardens. 🇨🇦 extremely cold 🥶 here today with temps dropping tomorrow. I’ll be starting some winter sowing very soon.

  5. I love gardening but finding appealing garden videos to listen to while I’m doing things is so difficult for me, so I go back to my favorites and you are definitely on the top of the list!

  6. I have transplanted garlic into pots when i had to move them better than leaving them And i cant remember how they turned out. I think i then put them back in the ground when able to .

  7. I’m just starting to think about what I want to do for this years garden. Not sure if I want to do winter sowing this year. Still deciding. I have a new greenstalk. So now I have three. My main focus right now is the community seed library. I am sorting and packaging seed donations right now. And planning which classes I’ll tech at the library. I am a university of Nebraska Extension Master Gardener Volunteer. And my volunteer hours are partially in the seed library. Welcome to the club by the way. It’s hard work but so worth it.

  8. Hi Esther have you ever winter sowed onion seeds? I have done this the last couple of years and it's been hit and miss for me. Any advice that might help me?

  9. Yippee on 10k! I did 20 winter sowing jugs today. I tried to be strategic but … I am a sucker for trying new things. 😂

  10. Congratulations 🍾
10k subscribers is wonderful news! And well deserved!

When you decide which varieties you’re growing…please share. I ❤ those kind of videos! Happy winter sowing…

  11. Congrats on your achievement! Good luck with the Master Gardener program. I know you will love it. It's a life-long learning opportunity and an awesome community as well.

  12. You will be a fantastic addition to the Master Gardener program! There is a great need for MG's that know how to grow veggies. In Charles County our Vegetable Growing workshops fill up fast. You will also have a great resource at the MD Home Garden Information Center (HGIC) in Jon Traunfeld. Former State MG Coordinator, experienced veggie grower and a really great guy. Once you are a Master Gardener you will have access to tons of resources. Volunteer hours are not hard to accumulate – many ways to earn them. And there is nothing like being around people that love to talk about gardening! I became a Charles County MG in 2007 while working full time and between volunteering at events I ran the admin side sending out email communications. BTW, at least in our county, the Pot Luck lunches after events are legendary 😁. Good luck and have fun!

  13. Congratulations on your master gardener journey. Don't forget that you can ask to create programs that your local MG don't have. I know you will do well.

  14. Congratulations! Looking forward to watching all your plans come true this year. PS .. I have 35 jugs outside all seeded. 😊 Grew peanuts once and squirrels dug them all up! 😡
