New to this and looking for advice on lawn care. I’m in SoCal, 10b zone. First pic is the front yard and is north facing so it’s shaded the majority of the time. Second pic is a patch of grass in the back yard that sees more sunlight but parts are shaded throughout the day. Last pic is side of home and is shaded the majority of the day.
I was initially watering consistently to try to get the grass to grow but as temps dropped I watered less and less. Not sure if this was a mistake.

Mow as high as possible.
Closer photos for grass type.
General process will be pre-emergent and 3-1-2 blend after the last frost/early spring.
Irrigation should be working. Watering in spring is usually 2x a week around 3-5am, for about 20-30 minutes or 1/2” of water.
Herbicide will depend on weed type and turf type to some extent. Kinda looks like Bermuda, but could be a hodgepodge too… more info is needed for further direction.
I’d say kill it with fire but it might be too soon 😆
Disclaimer : I’m Aussie, we’ll take the piss out of anything.
In reality though, the major issue is that it’s winter so it won’t grow as fast then. Put off doing anything major until spring
