It is definitely splitting now. General rule of thumb is don’t water till the old leaves has dried up

General rule of thumb is to never water mesembs while they’re splitting. Yours are Dinteranthus sp. (not sure which ones, but they may be D. pole-evansii). Wait for the new leaves to emerge and the old ones to fully die off as papery husks. Then you start to water them.
*Dinteranthus are kinda tricky in that they do need some water throughout the year, but don’t really have a schedule like Lithops or Conophytum. The trickiness is compounded by the fact that they need *less* water than Lithops.
