  1. When I first started gardening I used egg cartons and leftover fruit containers from strawberries, blackberries and blueberries and those worked great as seed starting trays as well. Just if there are any new beginners that don’t want to buy seed starting trays.

  2. So informative and comes at the right time..i am thinking of starting a herb patch, starting with seeds..Thank you Laura…have a great day and week ahead..

  3. Thank you for doing Seed starting 101. Today is my seed starting too. Last year I tried after having my strokes and it didn't work out. I started around 100 seeds and got 4 plants, not successful. Thank you for all you do.

  4. Can you please do a plant list video? I like to use those for reference. I have a few favorite ones that you've done in the past, like plants for winter interest, and your favorite grasses.

  5. The dollar store sells most types of herbs for 25 cents a packet. That’s mostly what I use and have had great success with them.

  6. Laura, I have watched your videos for several years now and have learned so much I have even built up the courage to try a few projects in my own garden thanks to you. I sincerey appreciate the time and renewed effort that you put into this viedo it really shows!

  7. Laura has beautiful penmanship!!!! Dang girl! You should do calligraphy!!!!
You should plant extra dill parsley etc.. in your pollinator garden for butterfly larva to host on!!
I can't believe you don't just grow several types of Basil to use a filler for Bouquets and arrangements?!?
There are so many reds and greens. Basil and chloeus are great fillers

  8. Oh boy time to get organized. I get so excited and then it all fails but I picked up a couple ideas to try. 🎉

  9. Some seed companies will actually warn you about the low germ rate of rosemary. It's easy to take cuttings in June or July

  10. Love these winter seeding videos. Always good to refresh ones memory. I started to use vermiculite as a top dressing and have improved results.😊

  11. Great video today, and it inspired me to begin my herb garden. Loved the Instagram pics today, especially with the bleeding hearts flowers. Your Instagram flower arrangements are always so beautiful. Thank you for taking the time to publish those pics for us.

  12. I love the idea of using culinary herbs and making it into a visual and fragrant bouquet bed. I hope you d something similar with edicinal native herbs in the bed in the future. I know you probably may not use it but it would be nice to see. Lots of other gardeners have it. But I find it to messy. I wonder if you can make it appealing to the eye.

  13. I started 20 soil blocks with rosemary and ended up with two plants. It always goes that way for me with rosemary.

  14. I started 20 soil blocks with rosemary and ended up with two plants. It always goes that way for me with rosemary.

  15. I get most of my seeds from Bakers (rare heirlooms) or Migardener (free ad- lol) and they are VERY generous at $2/pkg. (A tube of Coleus yielded over 50 seedlings!) I will only use maybe 1/10 of the amount so the rest are passed on to children, neighbors or saved for next year. I used to feel like I had to use every single seed and ended up with a zillion tomato, pepper, amaranth, get frustrated, search for more planting areas, etc . I've learned that there can be too much of a good thing. Thanks for the demo – always learn something new.

  16. I loved watching this, Laura. Long ago in the Hartly, didn't you plan on focusing on "tinctures." Did I miss that? It looked so interesting. I always love to see the projects you share with us. Thank you.

  17. I would have never guessed Dill would have been at the top of anyone's most used herb list. I'd love to know, what all do you use it for? I confess I only reach for it when making homemade tartar sauce or tzatziki sauce.

  18. Maybe you can find a spot in your flower garden to throw the rest of those Chives in . Even tho you may not need them to eat they are good for pollinators

  19. Im in 5b and have organo and dill come back year after year if I let a portion go to seed. I bring my thyme in the garage and water about once a month and that has worked. I tried bring the sage in as an experiment. I dehydrate and have a great variety of herbs.

  20. I love how you reiterate and this time a step by step even for someone like me not a beginner gardener but someone who’s been doing it for a few years I love how you brought us step by step in the process of planting herbs and how are you exactly do things, it’s perfect.
    I appreciate you tremendously

  21. You know if I watch your video when you're playing your herbs I love to plant mine just as well but your children seem like they would like working in the garden with you to a point that would be a good starter Garden for them cuz it's not hard to grow much maintenance on taking care of them try grow something delicate like that on their own

  22. When is your last frost date? When watching this video I feel like I am behind but when I look at my start dates for my seeds I’m good to go and I have just started onion seeds but you already have a full garden growing 😂

  23. Thanks Laura 😻 I grow my rosemary from cuttings off the old plant it works for me 🙌 from the Land Down Under 🇦🇺🐨🙌🌱👒

  24. Be careful with oregano …it will take over just like mints. Thyme will spread as well but it's low growing. Definitely more chive seed in each pot…you want a nice clump of sprouts.

  25. I loved this video! I've been gardening my whole life and am learning more and more every day. I think this layout is super helpful. Thank you!!

  26. I so appreciate your videos😊 ok this is a random question… I had a horrible time with voles last year. I had beautiful veggie plants in my raised gardens and the voles came and ate all the roots and killed them. Have you ever had that happen in your garden? If so, how did you deal with them. I heard you can spray castor oil in your garden to get rid of them but is the castor oil ok to use in vegetable garden that humans will be eating?
