We planted 300 native trees just 2 years ago, and what was once grass has now transformed into a lush, dense forest! Join me to see the incredible growth of this area and discover how I turned a grass paddock into a thriving forest.
Planting native trees is one of the most impactful ways to support the environment and enhance your local ecosystem. Native trees not only preserve biodiversity but also provide shelter and food for wildlife, improve soil health, and help combat climate change by sequestering carbon.
In this video, I’ll show you the incredible benefits of planting native trees, share tips on choosing the right species, and explain why native plants are essential for local ecosystems. If you’re looking to make a positive impact on the environment, this can be one way you can achieve that! Even a single native tree or shrub can make a difference 🙂
Let’s get planting and make the world a greener, healthier place 🌱

I live on a 2 acre piece of land in New Zealand where we are turning a grass paddock into and abundant, edible paradise and food forest! So come along on this journey with me as I experiment with growing, and try to push the limits of what I can grow. I’ll share with you my successes and failures so hopefully you’ll learn from them and have a go yourself! Come learn with me and Subscribe to join this awesome community 🙂

Hey friends! If you'd like to learn more about the species I planted and how it was all done, here's the first video – Planting a Forest in a Day https://youtu.be/u_FKy9Wr4ds
Hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year! 🙂
Kalem
Keep up the good work.
"Originally these trees were very small."
Incredible insight.
thanks
Great! Thank you for making the world a better place.
the idea of dense tree planting is a Japanese idea,
Gorgeous. The forest too. Great job
I've been wanting a lush garden but I have a small space (living in the city).
So I opted to plant on pots of various sizes using the random seeds that the birds in my neighborhood would occasionally drop.
A couple of years later, those seeds actually grew to trees! 😊 Some grew to 10 feet tall and the others are actually having some fruits.
Although, I am still hoping to purchase a farm lot some day so I can transfer these lovely plants/trees to an empty agricultural lot instead of being constrained in a big pot so they can thrive and grow much bigger ❤❤❤
nice biota node/carbon sink, Native trees are generally less likely to catch on fire unlike many exotics like pines and blue gums, although Manuka/kanuka are high in flammable oils with other natives around them makes them less likely to combust due to shade and cooling effects of transpiration.

Shalom from Argentina.
Just a question out of ignorance: why do I hear so often "planting native trees" "native" "native" "native".
I think we as humans are here to care for the earth and every living being. But what's the problem with planting whatever you choose to plant? why the desire to plant what already lived there? we are not here to leave the earth untouched. We are here to create beautiful gardens.
Just a thought. Shalom
Just imagine if we taxed billionaires and paid groups of people to plant trees and repair other ecosystems.
Wonderful Concept and makes great sense … payout is Beautiful 😊
I’m so glad that I discovered your channel.
Great presentation. Thanks for sharing. Would love to help.❤❤❤
I hope people comprehend how truly amazing this is.
Wonderful job, I really feel & share passion bringing back the native trees, keep it up good work
Good job my friend. I had planted trees with a small team here in my country, it's a so good feeling to see them grow.
Have you thought about getting into apiary? It's a big passion of mine, and with all the native flora in the area, it would be perfect for supporting a thriving colony of bees. Plus, you'd get the added bonus of harvesting delicious honey!
