Hi so I have a problem with my pothos. I've had it for a couple years and everytime I try to repot it into a larger pot (right now its the pink one) and bunch of my leaves fall off and different stems die off. It always ends up getting root rot somehow even though I've watered it less since the pot is bigger.
Recently i had to remove the rest of the plant (whatever was left of it) that I had in the pink pot and propagate it in water (pic 2) to try and salvage the roots. It gets enough light from my bedroom window. I've reported other types of plants into larger pots and never have had this much trouble with it. Is there anything I can do to make the repotting process less harmful to my plant?

First of all, why would you report it? One of the only good reasons to repot is if you’re having to water the plant frequently, more than once per week.

I suspect it’s not getting enough light, if the leaves are falling off then the roots are probably staying moist for too long.

An appropriate size pot, only about an inch larger around than the root mass, helps. Then you water it thoroughly and don’t water again until the leaves are drooping a little bit.

If the plant isn’t getting enough light it can’t process water. It can take full bright light from a window.

Try using soil that drains better. I add pumice and coco husk chips to potting soil for all my aroids.

Make sure the pot is only a couple inches larger than the total size of the root ball.

Most indoor plants can use more light. The plant will use up the water faster because it will be photosynthesizing more in brighter light.

Hi OP. It looks like the soil is too dense. Try adding some perlite to it to let the roots get some air and be sure that you have drainage. You have drainage, right?

You should also expect some transplantation shock, as it changes the medium from water to soil, so you may still lose some leaves until it adapts to soil.

    Is that twine?

How often do you water it?

I put a little fan on to circulate the air around my plants and noticed there was spider mites which were hard to see without an eye loop.
