  1. Is asparagus a cold weather plant or will they live through spring/summer/autumn where temperatures vary from 30-43*c/85-110*f and in winter only drop to about 3*c/37*f for maybe one week

  2. All the asparagus crowns that I'm looking at do not have the UC 157 or say hybrid on them how do you know when you're getting the right thing for your area

  3. Can you grow from "kitchen scrap?"
(I've done this with bunching onion & romaine lettuce w/ varying success)

  4. Haha 😂
I went the Seed route? I waited 5 years!! And on that 5th year my Ex rototilled them UNDER! My strawberries too! Ahhhhhh!
He was a Terror in my Garden!
He also cut down my corn stalks, when i had not picked yet….
Weed wacked my heirloom Rose that i carefully transplanted from 2 houses before!
So. I always grew unique things. Including those GMOnpotatoes that had their own pesticide! (I didnt think, when i bought that!)

  5. I was blessed to move into a home 30+ years ago that came with an established bed. Never had seen much less grown it! Very forgiving plant. Make sure to leave the tops on until the harshest part of winter has past. For me, this is after Fenruary

  6. Thx, Brian! I just topped mine off w potting soil last week. Hoping 4 a lot of asparagus this year! Is there something about being able to pick all 4 the 1st month n then half 4 nextc2 weeks then stop oicking?

  7. If you find you got a female crown, do you recommend replacing it with a male or is there a good reason to keep it around?

  8. 11:14 you need to plant some caster bean seed all around your property one they are beautiful plants (really cool looking.) two after one to two years there will be way less gophers almost none.

  9. Forgive me this statement isnt gardening related; you've gottten more handsome over the last 3 years I've followed you. Carry on😊

  10. I have 2 ,3 yr old pots of asparagus doing very well .Can i transfer these into a bed where they can spread ? i assume in winter would be best . how to get them out of the pot ?

  11. ALSO Buy your crowns from a reputable seller. I bought mine from a seller on Et sey and as the plants matured EVERY SINGLE ONE turned out to be female

    That's not an accident

    They sold me their rejects

Female berries are toxic to chickens

I had to tear them all out

    Wasted money BUT MOSTLY

    TIME

  12. I planted asparagus seeds last year. I am hoping to see some asparagus spears this year. I learned my lesson last time I planted I didn’t know you were not supposed to pick them. And I remember when you ate the Monstera fruit at your old house.
