  1. Really love the way the beds create an entrance to your garden. Feels super welcoming.

I got an amazing deal on a bunch of raised beds. Too many for me to manage. 2 will be asparagus only 😂

  2. Nope,. I'm not expanding anymore. As big as it going to get. Comfortable , greenhouse , chicken coup and beds in one place..lol

  3. I will be expanding another 4-6 beds.. 😊taking our time, I won’t plan on planting in them until fall.. food security is certainly a nice feeling..

  4. Its Armageddon here in western wa too. It generally turns to ice and nobody knows how to drive in it. The city, county and state levels suck at road maintenance here.

  5. Thankfully, I have more garden space than I need. But then again, how much is too much? What it comes down to, is how much work I want to do in the garden. It is my main source of exercise, that and the chickens, but I don't want it turning into a forty hour work week, not even thirty two. I want to keep it down to a maximum of two hours on any given day. Ariel laid her first egg yesterday. Yeah! It was tiny, the size of a pheasant, or maybe a quail egg. At least she did it. They will get bigger. All my Rhode Island Red eggs are XL-Jumbo. Trixie's first egg was Jumbo size, so I guess it averages out. All my hens are laying eggs now.

Last year, I moved three raised beds (Never again!), added PEX tubing hoops to my raised beds—replacing fiberglass hoops that break, and I have adequate netting for them. Now I can ger more use out of what had been single use beds. For example, I have three tomato beds. Now I can start the season growing turnips, golden beets, in radish in them without worrying about deer, then plant tomatoes, and when they are done, cabbage, and over flow for broccoli and cauliflower. My potato bed is being used to grow Tokyo Bekana Mustard and radish, then it will be replaced with sweet potatoes. After that, Yellow Heart Winter Choy and Komatsuna. My root crop beds will be used to grow double the amount of parsnips and carrots.

Speaking of parsnips, today I harvested a half dozen parsnips. I have a lot more, but I am feeding a handful of greens to my hens each day for treats, so I am making them last. Anyway, Last week was snow, and today I had to dig ice off the top of my raised be to get to the parsnips. The ground was half frozen, but workable. The dang roots were tough to pull out. All of them over a foot long, and some as much as 18 inches long. They did not want to come out. After a quick rinse to get the mud off, I have beautiful white roots. Now I have to decide how I want to cook them, oven roasted and drizzled with honey, or mashed? I've never eaten parsnips, so I hope I like them. I went through a lot of trouble to get them to grow. Alabama is not a parsnip growing state. I have plans on sowing parsnip seeds around February 20th, so I hope I like them.

  6. Last year, I planted SO many plants. Learned which ones grew well vs which didn't grow or were diseased. We are limiting our types and number of plants, which will allow us to give more limited time but fuller attention to those fewer plants. It will also open up more space on our patio to sit and enjoy said garden.

  7. Planting fruit trees and other fruits planned for planting this year, besides my gardens and other planting areas. Planning- planning-planning.

  8. I so needed to hear this! I have 4 8×4 garden beds and an 8×2 but really I just started gardening in the middle of the growing season last year but I’ve loved it so much that I just want to go huge. Thanks for bringing me back down to earth 😂

  9. wHY DO I FELL POINTED OUT??? hahahaa In my defense I'm starting seeds for 3 different markets. Plan to cheat again this year with straw bales

  10. I'll add on another 4×8 bed this year. Other change is adding trellis/t-posts for green beans. At 180+ sq feet. good size. I keep half of a bed empty so I can pop in tomato cuttings( cant bare to throw them in compost pile) Now if Mother Nature will give us a less hot/humid summer, be best garden ever

  11. Jeff in East Tennessee. Cold. We did get a little more than 2 inches of snow. Our winter has been on the cold side so far. Got onions and some cabbage growing in trays. Got one row of red cabbage in the garden that is getting blasted with cold waves. I got a 90ft by 80ft area an inside my fence. It is as big as I can handle! I will fill it full to the top in summer.

  12. I expanded my garden in the fall, going from 17 to 22 raised beds. Mine are all 4’x8’. I finally feel like I have enough room to really grow MOST of our food. I also have blueberries, and strawberries in a totally different area. It definitely keeps me busy!!

  13. I have 3’ tall raised beds 4 10×10’s, 12 8×4’s, and 3 3×12’s plus 12 xl tubs. I am out of room and am growing vertically as much as possible

  14. Have to say, watching your channel inspired me to give propergate one more try. Finally got success. All i can say is thank you.
