So I’ve moved into this new property, my first with grass that needs to be kept alive 😂, and well let’s just say I’m glad it’s not a human I’m looking after, or I might be getting done for neglect and manslaughter soon.

So far the past two weeks I have aerated the soil, sprayed a soil wetting agent and some seasol fertiliser, but thus far nothing has changed with the condition of the grass.

Am I just an impatient Gen Z man that needs to keep applying and wait for results, or is there something else I should be doing to revive this sorry excuse for a lawn.

Grass Wizards please bless upon me your endless years of experience and wisdom 🙏

You need to cut it more often. My initial thought was its Couch, but it could be Kikuyu. Need close photos to be sure. With Couch or Kikuyu grass, if you continually cut its head off, it will grow sideways instead and fill in the gaps. Keep up the watering. At least 15ml, twice a week. Get some catch cups from a retic shop and measure it. You *can’t* for example say “it’s on for 15 minutes” without knowing *how much water it gets* in that 15 minutes.

It looks fairly healthy (other than being a bit long) in the sunny areas, and not so good in the shady spots. This is to be expected in those grasses, they would prefer at least 4 hours sun a day so it will naturally be better in the areas that get more.
