My previously healthy pothos was left outside in the cold overnight and 24 hours later, the leaves and branches have not just wilted but they look almost melted. How do I get it back to healthy again? Can any of the leaves or branches be saved? It usually gets watered once it shows signs of drooping, every two weeks or so and gets some nice indirect light.

If they all froze completely then I’m sorry for your loss as it is a lost cause. I would leave her as is and hope for new sprouts or for her to perk up. Let’s hope she didn’t freeze all the way through to the roots.

U can try and save it by cutting it all down. Fingers crossed it’ll grow back.

  4. You may have just created a new species… Pothos muertos… j/k… Sorry for your loss

How was it left outside? If it was near the side of a building or in a car you might be ok with the roots. But they are tropical plants and should never really get below 10 celcius.

I see one bright leaf in there.

Cut away the destruction, and wait.

How cold was it outside? If it was barely freezing and/or it was partially protected by a building, other plant, or snow, there’s a chance that the soil didn’t completely freeze (in which case the plant could potentially recover). Chop off anything that’s obviously dead (basically all of the foliage from what I can see in the pic- there might be a salvageable leaf or two closer to the soil), then wait and see. If the remaining stem/plant gets black/squishy/smelly, it’s rotten and the plant is a goner. If the remaining stem looks okay after a few days, there’s a pretty good chance it will put out some new growth points eventually!

I see hope!!! There is some green left. Cut away all the dark dead stuff. There may be life in the old girl yet.

I normally hate when people include pictures of feet in these kind of photos. This one is acceptable. As for your pothos. Good luck. Your going to have to cut it all off. You don’t want it to rot and kill any thing that maybe alive.

Cut as much rot off as possible. Dont bother saving the vines unfortunately, those are done for.. i see a bit of life in that center area. Once you remove all that yuck… pray. Just pray it makes it because it does NOT look good

I really don’t think it’s salvageable but take a good look around. You may luck out and prop a bit or two. Sorry.

Edit to add: I totally missed just how green that leaf is in the center. There’s hope ! Consider cutting back the really dark leaves and just sit back and see what happens.
