Hippeastrum need plenty of sun when growing leaves. The leaves get too long & the plant top heavy & leaves will flop over if not getting enough sun. Generally 3 or 4 months of growing leaves will give the bulb enough energy to bloom again. In a pot, regular fertilizing helps next years bloom, & I’ve even let them grow as long as 5 months. Then reduce watering to almost nothing to get them to go dormant again. A good, dry month or two each year is all that’s needed for their dormancy period.

Thank you for that info! I was a little confused but I have been watering and supplementing with bone meal to assist in the root and plant structure. Glad to keep them going for a while. Doing well and maybe we’ll get another flower stalk. Not likely though.
